Financial Processor/Cost Basis Specialist

Work Arrangement: Fully Remote (MUST be local to Scottsdale, AZ or Valley Forge, PA)

Position Summary

Leverages advanced cost basis acumen and industry experience to provide superior client service on high-complexity accounts. This role requires independent research, analysis, and recommendations on processing strategies using various systems and technical procedures. The candidate will also provide guidance, research assistance, and training to Cost Basis associates while supporting statement audits, correspondence creation, report analysis, and department initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complex Request Review: Reviews high-complexity client requests for accuracy, good order, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Interacts with other internal divisions to complete client requests accurately and on time.
  • Cost Basis Calculations: Calculates and maintains cost basis information for client holdings using proprietary software, adhering strictly to IRS regulations, legal requirements, and department procedures.
  • Historical Data Analysis: Analyzes historical records from clients and external investment firms to reconstruct and verify cost basis accuracy.
  • Corporate Actions & System Audits: Assesses corporate actions to determine cost basis implications. Validates systematically generated output, adjusts disparities, and ensures data accuracy across client-facing resources.
  • Team Support: Provides ongoing research assistance, mentorship, and training to Cost Basis associates, while assisting with department audits and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience:
    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
    • Accounting or finance background preferred.
    • Experience in the brokerage industry preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong computer proficiency required.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn and navigate proprietary software programs.
  • Professional & Interpersonal Skills:
    • Excellent time management, problem-resolution, research, and communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Adaptable, quick learner capable of prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
    • Positive attitude with a willingness to collaborate and give/receive constructive feedback.
