Full-time

Re-posted 13 days ago

Job description

Proposal Coordinator (Full-Time)

Hybrid is preferred - Chantilly/Northern Virginia area, with flexibility for remote work

Blue Ridge Dynamics is a growing software services company supporting federal government and national security customers. We design, build, and integrate mission-focused software, user interfaces, data tools, and AI-enabled workflows for government programs.

We are looking for a Proposal Coordinator to help us pursue and win federal contracts, grants, and research opportunities. This is a strong fit for an early-career writer or recent graduate who wants to learn federal proposals, government contracting, and how technical software teams win work.

The Role

You will help coordinate, write, edit, and produce the documents used to compete for federal opportunities. That may include proposals, white papers, capability statements, past performance summaries, resumes, slide decks, and other customer-facing materials.

This role sits at the intersection of writing, project coordination, technical communication, and business development. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you should be comfortable learning technical concepts and turning input from engineers, product leads, and program managers into clear, persuasive content.

What You Will Do

In your first year, you will:

  • Draft and edit proposal sections, white papers, capability statements, resumes, and marketing materials
  • Interview engineers, designers, program managers, and company leadership to gather technical and management content
  • Turn rough notes, bullets, and technical explanations into clear proposal-ready writing
  • Help coordinate proposal schedules, assignments, reviews, and deadlines
  • Format and clean up Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and PDF documents for submission
  • Maintain reusable proposal content, past performance writeups, resumes, templates, and boilerplate
  • Support compliance checks to make sure proposal responses follow instructions exactly
  • Use AI tools to assist with research, drafting, editing, summarization, and quality review while learning when human judgment matters most

You Should Apply If

  • You have a BA or BS in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Technical Writing, Public Policy, Business, or a related field
  • Recent graduates are welcome
  • You are a strong writer who enjoys making complex ideas easier to understand
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working against deadlines
  • You can manage multiple moving pieces without losing track of instructions
  • You are comfortable with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and willing to learn Adobe Acrobat and proposal production tools
  • You are interested in government contracting, national security, software, technology, or federal acquisition
  • You already use AI tools in your writing or research process and can explain how you use them responsibly

Helpful, But Not Required

  • Experience with proposals, grants, technical writing, or business development
  • Familiarity with federal contracting, SBIR/STTR, DARPA, DoD, DHS, IC, or civilian agency opportunities
  • Experience formatting long documents in Microsoft Word
  • Interest in software, AI, cybersecurity, data systems, UX/UI, or mission-focused technology

Why This Role Is Worth It

Federal proposals are how the government decides which companies build critical systems, software platforms, and national security capabilities. Strong writing, organization, and proposal discipline can be the difference between a strong company winning or losing important work.

You will get hands-on experience with real opportunities, real deadlines, and real customers. You will learn how software services firms compete, how federal buyers evaluate solutions, and how technical ideas become funded programs.

This is a role where you will build a valuable career skill: federal proposal development and capture support.

How to Apply

Please send three items (combine into one file):

  1. Your current resume
  2. A writing sample under 1,000 words, any genre
  3. One paragraph explaining how you currently use AI tools in your writing, research, or editing process

Applications that do not include all three items will not be reviewed. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions carefully.
