Join rockITdata as a Security Control Assessor / ISSE Support supporting one of the nation's largest federal healthcare modernization initiatives. In this role, you'll support cybersecurity assessment and authorization activities by evaluating security controls, documenting assessment results, and assisting with compliance efforts throughout the system development lifecycle. Working closely with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), engineers, project teams, and Government stakeholders, you'll help ensure enterprise healthcare systems meet Federal security requirements while supporting secure technology modernization initiatives.Key Responsibilities
  • Support security control assessment activities throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate technical, operational, and management security controls for compliance with established security requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of security assessment documentation.
  • Document assessment findings and support remediation tracking activities.
  • Support continuous monitoring efforts by reviewing evidence and validating implementation of corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with ISSOs, engineering teams, and Government stakeholders to resolve assessment findings.
  • Assist with security reviews supporting system authorization and ongoing compliance activities.
  • Maintain assessment records, supporting documentation, and security artifacts.
  • Participate in security meetings, technical reviews, and compliance discussions.
  • Support continuous improvement of cybersecurity assessment processes and documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of relevant experience supporting cybersecurity, information assurance, system security engineering, or security assessment activities.
  • Experience supporting security assessments, compliance reviews, or security engineering within enterprise IT environments.
  • Familiarity with Federal cybersecurity requirements and security control assessment processes.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting VA, VHA, DHA, or other Federal healthcare organizations, health IT, telehealth, and Federal program management is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; Level 3 Public Trust if assigned to GovCloud, GAL, or VA OIT.
