Scientific Advisor, Medical Communications

(Agency Equivalent: Scientific Director, Medical & Scientific Communications)

JOB SUMMARY

IQVIA is currently seeking an experienced Scientific Advisor to join our Simpson Healthcare team within the IQVIA Health Communications Group. This role is responsible for developing and delivering content according to client strategy and branding objectives.

Primary responsibilities include the development of high-quality scientific content, partnering with stakeholders to meet objectives, and collaboration with the Client Services team to ensure that client needs are met in a timely manner.


Primary Responsibilities


Development of Scientific Content

  • Authors/supports publication and presentation of product and disease state information in support of client strategy.

  • Creates and presents content in a variety of media in support of client strategy and objectives.

  • Critically reviews technical and scientific reports from external sources for inclusion as a resource for content development.

  • Reviews clinical regulatory documents and common technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance in all content created.

  • Identifies, develops, recommends and/or negotiates scientifically sound, creative solutions to meet clients' critical business needs.

Partner with Key Stakeholders Meeting Project Objectives

  • Directly interacts with client to ensure client objectives are met.

  • Collaboratively interacts with scientists internally and from all partners.

  • Establishes, maintains, and directs interactions with key opinion leaders relevant to assigned compounds and therapeutic area.

  • Participates in meetings and negotiations with key opinion leaders on the establishment of strategically aligned content for assigned products or disease states.

  • Partners with client and KOLs to create advisory board materials including agenda and meeting content. Acts as a facilitator during advisory board meeting when required.

  • Proactively partners with internal and external partners to develop and implement a compliant strategy and framework for the delivery and communication of key scientific, pipeline, or clinical insights in line with client objectives.

  • Ensures awareness of current trends within the industry and establishes global best practices regarding system(s) enhancement, usage, and training.

  • Provides scientific expertise to functional area representatives on product strategy, disease narratives, study design, and scientific rationale in clinical studies, within and/or across therapeutic area(s).

  • Provides regular updates to Head of Medical on project and client status, as we as on resource needs.

Collaborate with Client Services Team

  • Works with Client Services to serve as client liaison for content development.

  • Provides status on all assigned projects to Client Services to ensure adherence to timelines and to ensure that clients are informed of any potential changes or delays.

Collaborate with Marketing Team

  • Supports Marketing in the development of content-related pitch materials.

  • Contributes ideas and scientific knowledge to Marketing for use in proposal development.

  • Accompanies Marketing and Client Services to pitch meetings.

  • Supports Marketing by maintaining awareness of medical environment, including potential new products and clients. Creates market assessments and shares findings to marketing Strategy meetings internally.

  • Apprises Marketing of scope changes to contracted work, as determined with the client.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of medical communications agency experience.

  • PhD (preferred) or PharmD with a relevant concentration.

  • Experience developing scientific platforms.

  • Relevant therapeutic background.

  • Strong knowledge of medical information resources and how to access and extract key information.

  • Must be a strong team player and be willing to work in an environment where individual initiative and accountability to the team are required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects effectively.

  • Solutions-oriented, with excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to travel for representation of company at client meetings, advisory boards, medical or industry conferences, pitch presentations, and other meetings as needed

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $99,300.00 - $248,300.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
