Are you ready to revolutionize the future of snacking? We are seeking a visionary professional to spearhead the development and deployment of cutting-edge nutrition strategies for iconic brands such as belVita, CLIF BAR, Good Thins, and Triscuit across the United States and Canada.

In this high-impact role, you will serve as the lead of an expert nutrition team, inspiring and empowering them to proactively translate science and external insights into strategic, actionable opportunities for the North America business. You and your team will be instrumental in championing our mindful snacking strategy and informing innovation and renovation plans. This involves guiding product design, claims and breakthrough communications that are rooted in robust nutrition science, regulatory and policy foresight and evolving consumer needs.

You will also collaborate expansively with diverse functional groups within Mondelez International and external organizations, translating scientific insights and your expert understanding of the dynamic external environment into business preparedness strategies and plans. In addition to guiding our portfolio of the future, your expertise and leadership will be critical in shaping our food and nutrition policy perspective and plans and advancing Mondelez related advocacy agenda.

This role places a strong emphasis on Scientific Affairs expertise, external engagement, trade association leadership, and policy advocacy with foresight. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of representing organizational interests in external scientific and policy arenas, driving proactive policy engagement strategies, and leading within trade associations to shape the broader food and nutrition landscape.

How you will contribute

As the Sr. Leader, Nutrition & Scientific Affairs leader, you will:

  • Offer strategic direction and nutrition thought leadership for our mindful snacking strategy in North America (NA), inspiring product renovations and innovations.
  • Working with regulatory and scientific affairs, marketing, consumer insights, nutrition research, and legal, you will promote nutrition and wellbeing messages and support the development and substantiation of science-backed claims used across media (packaging, advertising, websites, recipes, materials for health professionals, etc.).
  • Lead internal nutrition education programs to increase employee knowledge and implement external health professional outreach programs and nutrition conference strategies to inspire BFY brand recommendations.
  • Lead and expand external engagement efforts, leveraging your understanding of nutrition science and public health and partnering with key functions like scientific affairs and corporate and government affairs, to inform and actively drive the company's external food and nutrition policy advocacy strategy, engagement plans, and foresight initiatives.
  • Serve as a visible leader in trade associations and scientific organizations, representing the company's business interests, shaping industry positions, and building strategic alliances that advance Mondelez's advocacy agenda.
  • Champion policy foresight by monitoring, interpreting, and anticipating regulatory and policy developments, translating these into proactive business preparedness strategies and advocacy positions.
  • As a member of the NSC leadership team, you will direct a team of nutrition professionals (onsite and remote) and elevate the visibility and role of NSC as a respected, sought out partner across the NA business.

  • Nutrition with deep experience in nutrition communications and nutrition affairs issues management, preferably in food industry
  • Translating scientific knowledge into relevant and credible messages, making dynamic and informative public speaking presentations, and strong copywriting skills
  • Influencing senior cross-functional partners and external bodies
  • Managing people, including developing individuals, setting development plans and managing the career development of a diverse team
  • Handling complexity, working with cross country/category teams and working with internal and external stakeholders

Education / Certifications:

MBA, MS or PhD in nutrition or a related field; RDN preferred

Job specific requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in nutrition and leadership positions, working in or within the food or beverage industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and influencing senior stakeholders is required.
  • Proven understanding of the US food and nutrition landscape and an established expert network.
  • Extensive experience in Scientific Affairs, including developing and executing scientific strategies that support business objectives and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership in trade associations and/or scientific organizations, with a track record of advancing organizational priorities through external engagement.
  • Proven policy advocacy experience, including interpreting proposed regulations, developing foresight-driven strategies, and leading activation plans in response to evolving policy landscapes.
  • Experience interpreting, developing strategies and leading activation plans in response to proposed regulations.
  • Background representing company perspectives in trade associations, science organizations, etc.

Work schedule:

Onsite role based in East Hanover, NJ with a hybrid schedule of three days per week in the office. Washington DC (considered).

Salary and Benefits:The base salary range for this position is $140,300 to $192,940; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education and location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results. In addition, Mondelez International offers the following benefits: health insurance, wellness and family support programs, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plans, paid leave programs, education related programs, paid holidays and vacation time.
