This role is primarily remote, allowing therapists to connect with students from the comfort of their own homes while still maintaining a structured work schedule. You will work Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the opportunity for flexible scheduling to accommodate the unique needs of students. As a School-Based Mental Health Counselor, you will utilize telehealth platforms to conduct sessions, ensuring that students receive consistent and supportive care.

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to understand students’ emotional and psychological needs.
• Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based therapeutic methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy.
• Implement and facilitate group therapy sessions, psychoeducational workshops, and support groups to help students develop coping strategies and foster community ties.
• Collaborate effectively with educators, school nurses, and academic counselors to devise integrated support strategies for students facing mental health challenges.
• Provide crisis intervention services to handle mental health emergencies, ensuring immediate support for students in distress.
• Educate students and families about mental health conditions and treatment resources available both within the practice and in the community.
• Ensure all patient interactions are documented accurately in accordance with HIPAA regulations, maintaining complete confidentiality and upholding the highest ethical standards.
• Engage in team meetings and case consultations to share insights, discuss patient progress, and coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members.
• Stay informed about the latest mental health research and practices, contributing to the collective knowledge of the team while enhancing your own professional development.

The focus of this role is primarily on students within the K-12 education system. You will work with a diverse clientele, addressing various mental health issues that can affect academic performance and personal development. Therapy will encompass individual and group sessions for children and adolescents, making it imperative that counselors possess both sensitivity and empathy while addressing the unique challenges faced by young people today.

• A master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid license as an LMFT, LMHC, or LICSW to practice in the state of Washington.
• A comprehensive understanding of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Experience in conducting mental health assessments and designing effective treatment plans.
• Proficiency in delivering individual and group therapy to youth from diverse backgrounds.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and their families.
• Strong ethical standards and professional boundaries in counseling practices.
• Comfort with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth technologies.
• A team-oriented mindset, capable of collaborating with various stakeholders in a school environment.

• At least two years of experience providing direct clinical mental health services, preferably within a school or community-based setting.
• Previous experience working with adolescents facing trauma, behavioral issues, or academic challenges.
• Familiarity with state regulations and policies affecting school mental health services in Washington.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
