What is a Remote RMHCI?

A Remote RMHCI is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who provides counseling services through telehealth or other remote platforms. RMHCIs are licensed interns in states like Florida who are working under supervision to gain experience required for full licensure as mental health counselors. Working remotely, they can offer individual, group, or family therapy sessions, often using secure video conferencing tools. This allows clients to receive quality mental health support from the comfort of their own homes.

How do Remote RMHCIs typically collaborate with supervisors and peers while working virtually?

Remote Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns (RMHCIs) often collaborate with their supervisors and peers through secure video calls, scheduled check-ins, and online case consultations. Regular supervision sessions are crucial for clinical guidance and meeting licensure requirements, and these are typically conducted through HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms. Team meetings, peer support groups, and interdisciplinary case discussions are also common, fostering a sense of connection and shared learning despite the remote setting. Maintaining proactive communication and participating in virtual training or professional development opportunities can help remote RMHCIs stay engaged and supported.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote RMHCI, you need a master's degree in mental health counseling or a related field, completion of required clinical hours, and an active RMHCI registration. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and HIPAA compliance is essential for remote practice. Strong active listening, empathy, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for building client rapport and managing sessions independently. These competencies ensure effective and ethical client care while maintaining professional standards in a virtual environment.

Job description

Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) or Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Intern (RMFTI)

Fearless CounSouling | Remote (Florida)

Help people return to themselves.

At Fearless CounSouling, we believe people are not broken, they have adapted.

Our work helps clients understand how their experiences shaped the ways they think, feel, relate, and protect themselves—so they can move beyond survival and reconnect with who they truly are.

We are seeking a compassionate, curious, and growth-oriented Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) or Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Intern (RMFTI) who is excited to build not only a caseload, but a meaningful career grounded in authenticity, depth, and lifelong learning.

This is more than an internship, it is an opportunity to receive thoughtful mentorship, develop your own therapeutic voice, and become part of a practice that is actively expanding through clinical work, writing, education, and the development of the CounSouling model.

About Our Approach

Our clinical work is grounded in:

  • Attachment Theory
  • Trauma-Informed Care
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Nervous System Regulation
  • Developmental Psychology
  • The Enneagram as a framework for understanding adaptive patterns

We also remain open to complementary approaches that deepen self-understanding and healing when clinically appropriate, such as Tarot and Astrology.

Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, we help clients understand why their patterns developed and support them in creating lasting change through greater awareness, regulation, connection, and self-leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide individual psychotherapy to adults and couples (based on your training and interests)
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and develop collaborative treatment plans
  • Complete timely clinical documentation within our electronic health record
  • Provide telehealth services using HIPAA-compliant platforms
  • Maintain client and records confidentiality
  • Participate in individual and group supervision
  • Collaborate with colleagues through consultation and case discussion
  • Maintain ethical, culturally responsive, trauma-informed clinical practice
  • Continue developing your own theoretical orientation and clinical style

Who We’re Looking For

You’re someone who genuinely loves learning.

You recognize that becoming a therapist is as much about your own growth as it is about developing clinical skills.

You are:

  • Registered with the Florida Board as an RMHCI or RMFTI
  • Passionate about helping people heal at the root rather than simply managing symptoms
  • Curious, reflective, and committed to your own personal development
  • Warm, authentic, and able to build meaningful therapeutic relationships
  • Comfortable working independently while remaining connected through consultation and supervision
  • Organized and able to maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Excited to learn integrative approaches to therapy and develop your own authentic clinical identity

Experience with IFS, EMDR, EFT, or the Enneagram is welcomed but not required. A willingness to learn is far more important.

What We Offer

  • $50 per completed 50-minute clinical session (W-2 position)
  • Individual and group supervision provided by a Florida Qualified Supervisor
  • Flexible remote schedule serving clients throughout Florida
  • Administrative support, including scheduling, insurance verification, billing, and electronic health record management
  • Ongoing consultation and mentorship focused on helping you become the therapist you want to be—not simply teaching you how to practice like someone else
  • Access to training opportunities in EMDR, IFS, EFT, Depth Psychology, somatic therapies, and other integrative approaches
  • Opportunities to contribute to the continued evolution of the CounSouling model through clinical collaboration, education, and future projects

Our Philosophy

We believe healing is not about fixing what is broken, it is about understanding how we became who we are, appreciating the adaptations that helped us survive, and creating enough safety to live with greater authenticity, connection, and freedom.

If that perspective resonates with you, we’d love to meet you.

To Apply

Please submit:

  • Your resume
  • A brief cover letter describing what draws you to this position and the kind of therapist you hope to become
  • Your current availability for seeing clients
  • Your Florida Registered Intern license number

We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences and are committed to fostering an inclusive, affirming, and supportive environment for both clients and clinicians.

Looking Ahead

Fearless CounSouling is growing beyond traditional therapy.

In addition to providing psychotherapy, we are developing books, trainings, educational resources, supervision experiences, and innovative ways of helping people better understand themselves and one another.

We’re looking for clinicians who want to grow alongside that vision—people who value curiosity, humility, creativity, and lifelong learning as much as we do.
