Job Summary and Responsibilities

As the Market Director of Operational Finance provides day-to-day finance support to operating departments of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) Physician Enterprise (PE) assigned entities.

Every day, you will have an Operational Focus and will work with operational leaders to drive financial performance of assigned entities as well as have oversight of business intelligence activities to meet the information and analytic needs of internal and external stakeholders. He/she will carry-out assignments from the PE-NW VP of Operational Finance.

To be successful in this role, you will ensure compliance with organizational policies. The director will coordinate monthly close activities with the regional finance office on matters regarding monthly close, budget, decision support, and other finance issues. This position operates with a broad understanding of healthcare finance, budget development, business intelligence and due diligence practices for acquisitions.

  • Ensures that all assigned functions and activities are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner and in accordance with organizational values, professional standards, internal policies/standards/procedures and/or applicable regulatory requirements; identifies appropriate measures for evaluating effectiveness of activities/services, and reports on key performance indices and other significant benchmarking metrics to VMFH PE Leadership as required; understands and facilitates the full optimization of available information technology to achievement of overall business objectives.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the assigned function(s) to better understand/identify future needs and challenges; evaluates existing systems/program/priorities and future potential to make recommendations for performance/process improvement initiatives and new/revised policies/procedures; develops/presents comprehensive recommendations regarding the viability of specific projects and plans/directs process improvement initiatives/projects to ensure achievement of business objectives
  • Oversees and leads VMFH PE business intelligence, financial analysis and reporting activities, including the preparation of complex and multi-faceted business operations/financial modeling/analytical reports/metrics requiring comprehensive understanding of healthcare finance and reimbursement methodology and profitability analyses.
  • Leads the development, administration and evaluation of VMFH PE annual operational/capital budget and long range strategic financial plan; oversees resources/activities to promote fiscal/fiduciary responsibility, compliance with VMFH policies and standards and achievement of organizational objectives.
  • Plans, manages and evaluates the work of assigned staff engaged in financial and business intelligence activities in accordance with applicable internal/external regulations and standards for human resource management.
  • Acts as a strategic partner to operational leaders, guiding financial performance and providing day-to-day finance support for assigned PE entities.
