Position Overview

The TxDOT Traditional Delivery Project Manager will lead the business development, capture and pursue contract opportunities, and execute the project delivery involving TxDOT traditional delivery projects including Schematic/Environmental and/or PS&E. This position partners closely with our TxDOT client team and would be our district lead for multiple districts including one or more major districts. This is a Seller/Doer position that plays a key part in growing our TxDOT traditional delivery business in Texas.

This opportunity can be based in any of our Texas offices and is eligible for any of our flexible work arrangements.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Serve as PM and/or Discipline Lead on pursuits and opportunities with TxDOT and other clients.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and supervise engineering design for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate overall backlog, schedules, budgets, and deadlines.
  • Train and manage resources including staff workloads and career planning.
  • Create a challenging professional environment of innovation, opportunity, development, and continuous improvement for the engineering team focused on staff retention and succession planning.
  • Lead/support (as appropriate) development of TxDOT traditional delivery portfolios in collaboration with the Office Leadership Team.
  • Support Alternative Technical Concept development for design/build proposals.
  • Strategize and engage in hiring decisions to achieve organic growth. Identify and develop high-potential talent.
  • Participate in strategizing, storyboarding, writing, and reviewing proposals - become an integral part of the team's success.
  • Participate in business development strategy meetings.
  • Participate in proposal writing, client meetings, and client presentations.
  • Engage and serve in leadership positions within industry organizations, with specific subcommittee involvement at relevant organizations.
  • Seek opportunities to make presentations or write articles. Encourage others in the team to do the same.
  • Maintain current knowledge of project pipeline for key clients.
  • Help to build the practice by networking, attracting early career engineers, and by developing members of the team.

Preferred Experience and Education

  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); Master's degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • 10+ years of related work experience, preferably in TxDOT traditional delivery projects (Schematic/Env and/or PS&E).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Texas is strongly preferred.
  • Precertification in a minimum of 4 TxDOT categories is preferred.
  • Business Development experience preferred.
  • Experience interfacing with TxDOT is preferred.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of basic software such as MicroStation OpenRoads SS 10, ORD, ProjectWise, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
