Project Manager – Clean Energy Siting (Remote – Albany, NY)
Engagement: 3 Years | Full-Time | $45–$60/hr
About the Role
Join a forward-thinking Clean Energy Siting Team as a Project Manager driving sustainable energy initiatives across New York State. In this public-facing, remote position, you’ll collaborate with local governments and stakeholders to accelerate clean energy planning and deployment. This role offers dynamic project management experience, skill development in community engagement, and the opportunity to impact statewide sustainability efforts.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison for local governments and stakeholders, delivering expert guidance on clean energy planning, permitting, and project development
- Lead and facilitate meetings, presentations, and trainings—both virtually and in-person—to maximize community engagement and education
- Develop public-facing tools, resources, and training materials supporting clean energy initiatives
- Provide objective technical support focused on solar, wind, and energy storage project planning
- Draft clear, concise written correspondence, memos, and guidance documents for municipalities and stakeholders
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects with internal teams and external partners to advance Clean Energy Siting Team goals
- Travel to town meetings and community events as needed (car required)
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/policy, urban or regional planning, environmental engineering, public policy, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a public-facing role within planning, zoning, sustainability, clean energy, or similar sector
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to navigate sensitive topics and build partnerships with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex)
- Experience drafting professional correspondence and delivering presentations
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
- 5+ years of related experience, including project management/oversight
- Familiarity with geospatial mapping and data platforms (ESRI, QGIS)
- Working knowledge of CRM platforms (Salesforce)
