Job description

Job Title: Technical Project Manager
Location: Albany, New York
Type: Contract
Compensation: $50/hr. W2
Contractor Work Model: Hybrid
System One IT has a 12-month+ contract opening for a Technical Project Manager to support a state government end customer. PMP and CSM certifications are strongly desired. This is a hybrid position, based in Albany, NY. ย 
Responsibilities

  • Manage key components of the project scope, schedule, and budget, including variances and staffing plans, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee risks, issues, communications, actions, and project interdependencies for assigned project components.
  • Lead project team members in a matrixed environment, ensuring high-quality task completion and alignment with project goals.
  • Facilitate detailed task planning with technical resources, managing resources, and collaborating with management on allocations.
  • Identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage mitigation plans with stakeholders.
  • Proactively resolve issues by collaborating with team members and stakeholders to ensure project progress.
  • Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, including preparing agendas, minutes, and action items to clarify needs and promote decision-making.
  • Work with project stakeholders and team members to ensure understanding of project objectives and well-defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Oversee and coordinate vendors supporting rules extraction and use case documentation, ensuring scope adherence, resource management, and deliverable review.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project success.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Between four (4) and seven (7) years of experience as a Project Manager.
  • At least 2 years of experience working on State or Federal government projects as a project manager.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid development and technical project management methodologies.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in information technology, Business, Public Administration, Project Management, or Communications preferred.
  • Current PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the Project Management Institute preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification is a plus.
  • Minimum experience required: 8 years
