The Organization: A wholly owned subsidiary of a larger enterprise that operates with meaningful autonomy and an entrepreneurial mindset. Recent acquisitions and a NetSuite implementation have expanded both opportunity and complexity.

The Opportunity: Newly created senior accounting leadership role. As the CFO focuses more heavily on operations and strategy, the Controller will own dayโ€‘toโ€‘day accounting, financial close, and reporting while building scalable, efficient processes for longโ€‘term growth.

Visibility & Partnership: Significant exposure across the organization, with regular interaction with senior leadership, external auditors, outsourced accounting teams, and carrier partners.

Key Responsibilities of the Controller - Insurance

  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting and general ledger integrity
  • Oversee outsourced accounting providers and manage accounting for MGA and delegated authority programs, including revenue recognition and carrier settlements
  • Lead audit coordination, prepare financial statements and technical documentation, and ensure compliance with accounting standards
  • Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, postโ€‘acquisition integration, and continuous improvement of systems, controls, and processes

Qualifications of the Controller - Insurance

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting or finance; CPA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong preference for candidates from the property and casualty insurance space.
  • Proven ownership of close and audit processes and experience working with outsourced accounting teams
  • Handsโ€‘on, detailโ€‘oriented leader comfortable operating in a lean, highโ€‘growth environment; NetSuite and strong Excel skills preferred
