The Opportunity

We are seeking a Project Controller to support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This position is structured as full-time and offers flexibility to work remotely and/or in a hybrid capacity from one of our RS&H offices, with a preference for candidates located in the western region (e.g., Denver, Phoenix, Southern California).

As a Project Controller, you will provide end-to-end project lifecycle support, including initiation, monitoring, control, and reporting on project costs, schedules, and risks to ensure profitability and timely delivery. In this role, you will support project management teams in delivering projects on time and within budget while applying foundational project controls and financial principles. Under supervision, you will have the authority to make independent decisions and exercise judgment for routine issues, supporting multiple small to medium-sized projects with limited complexity.

Essential Functions
  • Provide project lifecycle support to initiate, monitor, control, and report on project costs, schedules, and risks to ensure profitability and timely delivery.
  • Manage budgets, track expenditures, prepare forecasts, and ensure compliance with contract terms in collaboration with engineering, construction, and project management teams.
  • Analyze key financial metrics (e.g., EAC, ETC, Earned Value, multipliers) to support project teams in meeting deadlines and budget objectives.
  • Assist project management teams in assembling scope and fee proposals, including verifying labor rates, staffing plans, and proposal documentation.
  • Facilitate client contract and subcontract execution, including amendments and ensuring required documentation and signatures are completed.
  • Support client invoicing processes in collaboration with project management and billing staff.
  • Lead subconsultant invoice processing and review, serving as a liaison between project teams, billing staff, and subconsultants.
  • Maintain opportunity and project data in ERP systems with direction from project management.
  • Monitor and support project financial performance throughout the lifecycle, identifying improvement opportunities and cost-saving measures.
  • Assess and provide recommendations regarding schedule impacts, scope changes, and financial performance to project teams and FP&A.
  • Facilitate project closeout processes, including final subconsultant payments, accounts receivable tracking, and data validation.
  • Perform additional project-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in project controls, construction accounting, or cost engineering; A/E industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision, Oracle (ERP), and SharePoint is a plus.
  • Self-driven with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent collaboration, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
Additional Role Details
  • Full-time position within the Financial Planning & Analysis organization.
  • This is a replacement role to support ongoing project needs within the business.
  • The position does not include people management responsibilities.
  • No field site work or company vehicle operation required.
Benefits:
  • Paid Vacation, Personal Time Off, and Holiday Pay
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Certification and Licensure Support
