Procurement Specialist

The Procurement Specialist will lead sourcing, procurement, and vendor management activities across the organization, with a strong focus on supporting scientific, clinical, and corporate operations. This position will play a key role in ensuring effective and compliant purchasing processes across the business. The ideal candidate will bring experience in the Life Sciences sector and a proven ability to manage complex procurement operations in a high-growth, publicly traded environment. The role will work cross-functionally with key stakeholders across R&D, G&A and Supply Chain teams, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and financial controls.          

Principal Responsibilities

   Manage end-to-end procurement lifecycle, including negotiation, contracting, and onboarding, ensuring alignment with internal policies and SOX compliance.
   Partner with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, identify cost-saving opportunities, and deliver procurement solutions that add long-term value.
   Oversee and optimize the use of procurement platforms, including Tipalti and NetSuite, to improve automation, reporting, and spend visibility.
   Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Compliance to ensure vendor contracts align with corporate policies and risk mitigation strategies.
   Support the development of procurement policies and procedures, ensuring scalability and best-in-class governance.
   Lead RFPs/RFQs and drive competitive sourcing processes in collaboration with business owners.
   Build strong internal partnerships with scientific and clinical teams to understand upcoming needs and proactively manage procurement pipelines.
   Provide category-specific market intelligence and cost benchmarking to support strategic decisions.
   Continuously seek opportunities to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, and mitigate supply risks.

Skills and Attributes

1.    Deep knowledge of sourcing, procurement, and vendor management processes within the Life Sciences industries.
2.    Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
3.    Proficiency with procurement systems, ideally Tipalti and NetSuite.
4.    Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
5.    Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
6.    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7.    Experience supporting procurement for R&D, clinical trials and G&A functions.
8.    High degree of integrity and commitment to ethical business practices and compliance.
9.    Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
10.    Comfortable with ambiguity and proactive in identifying and resolving issues.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role with a requirement to keyboard and visually work with a monitor and/or laptop screen for long periods of time. Travel

This position requires up to 10% travel. Frequently travel is outside the local area and overnight. 


Education and Experience

   Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Life Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
   3-6 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 2-3 years in the Life Sciences sector.
   Experience working in a public company environment and familiarity with SOX compliance.
   Strong technical experience with procurement systems, like Tipalti, and NetSuite ERP systems.
   Experience in vendor risk management and working with cross-functional legal, finance, and compliance teams.

US Salary Range:  $95,000 - $115,000
