First Hand Psychotherapy Center is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to provide specialized mental health therapy for individuals impacted by trauma, particularly those experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. This position is primarily remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home, while also engaging with clients through our well-established outpatient office protocols. Although a significant portion of therapy sessions will take place via telehealth, you will also have opportunities to interact with colleagues in an integrative team environment where consultation, collaboration, and professional development are encouraged.

• Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed mental health assessments that delve into the patient's trauma history to inform treatment planning.
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans that focus on recovery from trauma and resilience-building strategies.
• Utilize advanced therapeutic techniques, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate healing during therapy sessions.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, supporting clients in processing their trauma experiences while developing effective coping mechanisms.
• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary team members to ensure integrated, holistic care for each client.
• Provide crisis intervention and immediate support during trauma-related emergencies, employing a calm and composed demeanor under pressure.
• Educate clients and their families about trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available resources, fostering a comprehensive understanding of mental health.
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in accordance with applicable legal and ethical guidelines.
• Participate in regular case consultations, interdisciplinary team meetings, and ongoing professional development focused on trauma-informed care practices.
• Stay informed about current research and best practices in trauma therapy to continually enhance your therapeutic skills.

Our client population primarily consists of individuals grappling with the effects of trauma—ranging from childhood abuse to recent traumatic events. As a mental health counselor, you will play a vital role in guiding them through their recovery journeys, promoting healing, and fostering resilience.

• a Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCMFT, LCPC, LCP, LCSW, or LSCSW in the state of Kansas.
• A strong foundational knowledge of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to client interactions.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and related computer applications.
• Ability to maintain calm and effectiveness in high-stress scenarios while displaying a strong teamwork ethic.

• At least 2 years of post-licensure experience working with trauma-informed therapeutic approaches is preferred.
• Previous experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions is highly valued.

The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 90,000 to 110,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
