What is remote podcast editing?

Remote podcast editing is the process of improving and refining podcast audio files from a distance, typically using digital tools and software. Editors work from their own location to remove background noise, adjust sound levels, add music or effects, and ensure the final episode is polished and professional. This allows podcasters to collaborate with skilled editors regardless of geographical location, making the production process more flexible and efficient.

What are some common challenges faced by remote podcast editors, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote podcast editors often encounter challenges such as inconsistent audio quality from different hosts or guests, tight turnaround times, and limited direct communication with production teams. To manage these effectively, editors can establish clear file-sharing protocols, use project management tools to track progress, and maintain regular check-ins with clients or producers. Familiarity with a variety of audio editing software and plugins also helps address audio inconsistencies, ensuring a polished final product.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Podcast Editor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Podcast Editor, you need strong audio editing skills, a solid understanding of storytelling, and experience with audio production principles, often supported by relevant coursework or a portfolio of work. Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Adobe Audition, Audacity, or Pro Tools, as well as knowledge of file formats and remote collaboration tools, is typically required. Attention to detail, time management, and clear communication are standout soft skills for this role. These skills ensure high-quality, engaging podcast episodes delivered on deadline while effectively collaborating with hosts and producers from a distance.

Job description

Role: Videographer

Job Type: Full-time
Location: Remote, United States

Role Summary:
401GO is looking for a creative, fast-moving, and story-driven Videographer to help bring the future of retirement to life through video. This is not your typical corporate video role. We want someone who understands branding, storytelling, social media trends, and how to create content that actually gets watched. Youโ€™ll help build the visual voice of one of the fastest-growing fintech companies in the country by producing content across brand campaigns, events, podcasts, interviews, social media, product storytelling, customer testimonials, thought leadership, recruiting, and more. If you can take an idea from concept to final editโ€”and make it feel modern, cinematic, energetic, and authenticโ€”we want to meet you.

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing:

  • Capture and produce high quality video content for marketing campaigns, social media, events, podcasts, customer stories, product launches, recruiting, and executive thought leadership.
  • Travel to conferences, partner events, client locations, and company offsites to document and create engaging content in real time.
  • Edit fast-paced short-form content for LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and paid advertising campaigns.
  • Create long-form storytelling content including interviews, mini-documentaries, educational videos, and company culture pieces.
  • Work closely with marketing, sales, product, and executive teams to turn ideas into compelling visual stories.
  • Help shape and evolve the 401GO visual brand identity across all channels.
  • Produce behind-the-scenes, customer testimonial, and founder/executive content that feels authentic and human.
  • Shoot our video podcast.
  • Assist with podcast production, lighting, sound, camera setup, and live event capture.
  • Manage video equipment, lighting kits, audio gear, editing workflows, file organization, and content libraries.
  • Stay ahead of content trends, editing styles, AI video tools, motion graphics, and platform algorithms.
  • Bring creative ideas to the tableโ€”not just execute tasks.
  • Submit a portfolio, link or demo reel

What You Bring:

  • 3+ years of videography, video production, or content creation experience.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing storytelling, editing, social content, interviews, events, and branded video work.
  • Advanced experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro or similar editing tools.
  • Understanding of lighting, audio, framing, cinematography, and production workflows.
  • Experience creating content optimized for social media performance and engagement.
  • Ability to move fast, adapt quickly, and thrive in a start-up environment.
  • Strong eye for branding, pacing, music, transitions, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience shooting with professional camera equipment, drones, gimbals, and mobile content tools is a plus.
  • Comfortable working directly with executives, clients, and teams across the company.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to own projects from beginning to end.
  • Bonus points if you understand fintech, SaaS, AI tools, podcasts, or performance marketing content.

Why 401GO?
At 401GO, weโ€™re not just changing retirementโ€”weโ€™re reinventing it. As a fast-growing fintech start-up, weโ€™ve built the worldโ€™s most advanced, fully automated retirement platform to help hard-working Americans take control of their future. Here, innovation moves fast, ideas matter, and your work makes a real impact. Youโ€™ll enjoy a collaborative and supportive environment where great people do their best work together, backed by competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and plenty of opportunities for professional growth. If youโ€™re ready to challenge the status quo and be part of something big, 401GO is the place to grow your career.

What We Offer

  • A standout 401(k) plan (naturally!).
  • Generous stock optionsโ€”share in our growth and success.
  • Flexible work environmentโ€”choose where youโ€™re most productive.
  • Excellent benefits, including medical, dental, and vision.
  • Flexible hoursโ€”because great work doesnโ€™t always happen 9โ€“5.
  • Plenty of PTOโ€”we value work-life balance.
  • A fully stocked kitchen when youโ€™re in the office.

At 401GO, we invest in our people just as much as we invest in helping Americans secure their financial future.
We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We support a working environment that provides qualified employees and applicants with equal employment opportunity on a non-discriminatory basis without regard to race, color, creed, age, religion, gender (including pregnancy, gender identification and/or gender nonconformity) sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, ancestry, ethnicity, genetic information, physical or mental disability, citizenship, past, current or prospective service in the uniformed services or any other basis prohibited by federal, state, or local law.
