Their services include Business, Individual, State & Local tax, R&D Tax Credit, as well as Cost Segregation, International and Private Client services.

As a cost segregation professional, you will be reporting to the leader of the Cost Segregation practice and work alongside an integrated team of seasoned, well-known professionals and industry leaders. In this position, you will work on all aspects of engagements and build/maintain relationships with clients.

Howyou'll spend your time:

  • Performing physical site inspections of properties in order to take detailed notes, sketches or measurements and photographing the various components of the property for IRS audit substantiation purposes

  • Analyzing construction general ledgers, contractor payment applications, and other cost/financial documentation, and reconciling the information to various accounting records

  • Reading, interpreting and estimating take-off quantities from blueprints and other cost information provided by clients

  • Preparing schedules that support findings in accordance with IRS standards

  • Meeting client expectations by adhering to pre-established deadlines

Thekind ofpeoplewewant totalk tohavemany ofthefollowing:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or electrical, mechanical or civil engineering preferred

  • 2+ years experience in the construction field

  • A working knowledge of IRS code sections, court cases, revenue rulings and other tax citations related to cost segregation

  • Strong understanding of construction design and processes as well as depreciation, in order to determine the appropriate tax lives for building assets in accordance with IRS standards

  • Knowledge of real estate appraisals and valuations

  • A strong working knowledge of RS Means Cost Estimator and Marshall & Swift and/or Planswift or similar blueprint reading/estimating software

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills - Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment

  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the year to project sites

  • Willing to train the right professional

The compensation for this position ranges from $75,000 - $110,000. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
