Remote Physician Optum information

What is a remote physician at Optum?

A Remote Physician at Optum is a licensed medical doctor who provides healthcare services to patients via telemedicine platforms, rather than in a traditional in-person setting. These physicians assess, diagnose, and manage patient care remotely, often utilizing video calls, phone consultations, and secure messaging. Working remotely allows physicians to offer flexible, accessible care to a wide range of patients while maintaining high clinical standards. Optum supports remote physicians with technology, administrative infrastructure, and access to a wide network of healthcare resources.

How does a remote physician at Optum typically collaborate with onsite care teams and patients?

As a Remote Physician at Optum, you will regularly collaborate with onsite care teams through secure digital platforms, participating in virtual case discussions, care planning, and patient follow-ups. Communication is key, as you’ll coordinate with nurses, specialists, and care managers to ensure continuity of care for patients. While most interactions with patients occur via telehealth, you’ll also document and share clinical insights with the local team, ensuring everyone is aligned on treatment plans. This collaborative approach helps deliver high-quality care and supports a team-oriented work environment, even in a remote setting.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote physician at Optum?

To thrive as a Remote Physician at Optum, you need a valid medical degree (MD or DO), board certification, and an active state medical license, along with a solid background in clinical care. Familiarity with telemedicine platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and secure communication systems is essential.
