Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations through initial consultations, documenting findings to inform treatment strategies.
  • Evaluate and assess clientsโ€™ mental, behavioral, and emotional health, employing standardized assessment tools where appropriate.
  • Develop tailored intervention and recovery strategies for individuals, couples, families, and group settings.
  • Facilitate impactful individual and group therapy sessions focusing on therapeutic goals aligned with client needs.
  • Continuously monitor client progress throughout the treatment plan, making necessary adjustments to promote recovery.
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to formulate comprehensive intervention plans.
  • Follow up with clients transitioning to or from hospitalization, ensuring ongoing support and continuity of care.
  • Train and assist family members and primary caregivers in managing and supporting recovery processes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of California.
  • Successful completion and passing scores on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Proven experience as a mental health counselor, demonstrating a depth of knowledge and clinical skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, to streamline client documentation and billing processes.
  • Experience working with clients dealing with co-occurring physical and emotional health conditions, particularly around substance use disorders.
  • Understanding of best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • In-depth knowledge of psychotropic medications and their effects, enhancing your ability to monitor and communicate about client medications.
