Job description

Weโ€™re a team of friends bound together by a mission to preserve our planet for future generations through innovative energy solutions and modern infrastructure. Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation.

Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. Weโ€™re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.

Location & Team Gatherings

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016.ย  Weโ€™ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Position

As part of Intersectโ€™s Engineering team, youโ€™ll help ensure our utility-scale solar portfolio performs at its highest potential. This role combines deep technical rigor with real-world impactโ€”leading PV capacity testing, refining advanced energy models, and translating complex performance data into actionable insights that drive long-run asset value.

Planned to start in mid-Q1, this role includes a four-week training period, with the expectation of full productivity by mid-Q2. Youโ€™ll collaborate closely with Asset Management, Project Engineering, and Operations to deliver defensible performance assessments and engineering solutions that strengthen reliability, optimize generation, and support long-term infrastructure performance.

Team Overview

This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersectโ€™s mission to accelerate the renewable energy transition. The Engineering team partners across development, construction, finance, and operations to ensure our projects are designed, built, and operated for long-term value and technical excellence. By combining analytical rigor with cross-functional collaboration, the team safeguards performance, reduces risk, and drives continuous improvement across our growing portfolio. Joining this team means contributing to infrastructure that powers communities while building expertise at the forefront of clean energy innovation.

What Youโ€™ll Do

Lead PV Capacity Testing & Performance Validation, Resolve Plant Performance Challenges

  • Plan and execute PV capacity testing in accordance with ASTM E2848, delivering accurate, defensible assessments of plant performance.

  • Develop testing protocols, coordinate field execution, and synthesize results into clear technical reports.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to validate performance guarantees and resolve discrepancies.

  • Analyze DC collection systems and large-scale plant data to identify root causes of underperformance.

ย

Advance Energy Modeling & Long-Run Optimization

  • Develop and enhance advanced PV energy models that inform operational strategy and improve forecasting accuracy.

  • Evaluate degradation trends, loss factors, and system behavior to maximize long-term generation.

  • Continuously refine modeling assumptions using real-world plant data and performance analytics.

ย

Lead DC collection system design, EPC process & Support Operations post COD

  • Lead technical discussions on DC collection systems with OEMs, EPC partners, and construction teams.

  • Lead reliability assessment of the DC collection system.

  • Support operations teams in debugging issues in DC collection systems.

  • Apply power systems engineering principles to implement data-driven corrective actions.

  • Translate complex engineering findings into clear, actionable recommendations for cross-functional teams.

ย

Strengthen Technical Standards & Industry Engagement

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety codes, testing standards, and industry best practices.

  • Contribute technical expertise to internal standards development and knowledge sharing.

  • Engage with independent engineers, testing providers, and industry peers to maintain technical leadership.

What Youโ€™ll Bring

  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Direct experience supporting utility-scale solar plants through commissioning, capacity testing, or operational performance engineering.

  • Demonstrated expertise conducting ASTM E2848 PV capacity and performance testing.

  • Advanced proficiency in PV energy modeling and large-scale plant performance analytics.

  • Strong understanding of DC collection systems, plant design, and key drivers of solar asset performance.

  • Knowledge of electrical safety codes, grid integration considerations, and applicable industry standards.

  • Ability to translate complex technical analysis into practical, business-aligned recommendations.

  • Established relationships within the PV performance and engineering community, including independent engineers or testing providers.

  • A rigorous, analytical approach combined with collaborative problem-solving skills.

  • Humility, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to lead technical evaluations while fostering inclusive teamwork.

  • Alignment with Intersectโ€™s values of Equity, Humility, Authenticity, Long-run Value, and People Come First.
