What are remote paralegals?

Remote paralegals are legal professionals who provide paralegal services from a location outside of a traditional law office, often working from home. They assist attorneys with tasks such as legal research, drafting documents, case preparation, and client communication using digital tools. Remote paralegals rely on technology to securely access and manage case files, collaborate with legal teams, and meet deadlines. This role allows for flexibility and can support law firms, corporations, or independent attorneys across different locations.

What Does a Remote Paralegal Do?

As a remote paralegal, your duties are to perform legal research, prepare legal documents, and interview witnesses or experts preparing to give testimony in civil or criminal trials, arbitration, litigation, and other forms of legal administration. Some paralegals work closely with a specific attorney at a firm, providing them with significant assistance in developing a case. You complete tasks like pulling and reviewing relevant case laws and precedents, drafting legal briefs, collecting information from the client, and ensuring that you file paperwork appropriately. Other paralegals provide more general administrative support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Paralegal, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Paralegal, you need a solid understanding of legal concepts, document drafting, and research, typically supported by a paralegal certificate or relevant degree. Familiarity with legal research databases (like Westlaw or LexisNexis), case management software, and secure file-sharing platforms is essential. Excellent written communication, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills help you stand out in a virtual environment. These abilities are crucial for delivering accurate legal support, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring seamless collaboration with attorneys and clients remotely.

How does a remote paralegal typically collaborate with attorneys and other team members?

As a remote paralegal, collaboration with attorneys and legal staff often occurs through digital communication tools such as email, video conferencing, and case management software. You may participate in virtual meetings, share documents securely online, and use project management platforms to track case progress. Building strong communication skills and being proactive in providing updates are essential for staying aligned with the team. Despite the distance, most remote paralegals are expected to be responsive and maintain regular touchpoints to ensure smooth workflow and effective support.

How to Become a Paralegal Who Works Remotely

The educational qualifications you need to become a virtual or remote paralegal vary. Many employers prefer candidates with a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or a closely related field. Some employers accept candidates with an associate’s degree, certificate, or experience. A remote paralegal needs organizational skills and a stable internet connection to complete their duties, which may include legal document preparation, data entry, and research on behalf of an attorney or a law firm.

Job description

We are a high-volume plaintiff PI firm with an active and growing caseload. We are now adding an experienced litigation attorney to our team - someone who can step in, manage complex files, take cases through trial, and grow with us as we expand into medical malpractice.

The Role

You will be a working litigation attorney handling the full lifecycle of plaintiff personal injury cases - from pre-suit through trial. We handle motor vehicle accidents, catastrophic injuries, and commercial vehicle cases. Med mal experience is a plus and will factor into your growth path here.

Day to day, you will:

  • Manage an assigned caseload of active PI litigation files from intake through resolution.

  • Lead case strategy, discovery, depositions, motions practice, and trial.

  • Coordinate with our paralegals, pre-lit team, and records staff on file development.

  • Evaluate cases for med mal crossover and contribute to the firm's expansion into that practice area.

  • Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trials in Palm Beach County and surrounding circuits.

Who You Are

  • Licensed in Florida, or actively pursuing Florida Bar admission (out-of-state applicants welcome).

  • Minimum 5 years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience; 8+ years preferred.

  • Medical malpractice litigation experience is a strong differentiator.

  • Proven trial attorney: you have taken cases to verdict, not just settled them.

  • A self-starter who thrives in a process-driven, high-accountability environment.

  • Bilingual (English/Haitian Creole or Spanish) is a plus but not required.

  • Aligned with a firm culture built on faith, loyalty, and client-first excellence.

Compensation & Benefits

Working Case Bonus 5-8% of attorney fees collected on cases assigned to you as lead attorney. This bonus rewards the work you put in on the files you own.

Year-End Discretionary

  • Bonus Additional performance-based bonus at the managing attorney's discretion, based on overall contribution, firm revenue, and professional conduct.

  • Health Insurance Firm sponsored health coverage

  • Retirement 401(k) with employer match

Schedule Flexible; remote or hybrid with Florida office access in Lake Worth

Note Working case bonus applies only to attorney fees collected on cases for which you are the assigned lead attorney. Origination bonus is not part of this compensation structure.

Benefits:

  • 401(k)

  • Health insurance

  • Paid time off

  • Hybrid remote in Lake Worth, FL 33467
