What is a remote paralegal tax?

A remote paralegal tax specialist is a trained legal professional who assists attorneys and clients with tax-related legal matters while working from a remote location. Their responsibilities include researching tax laws, preparing legal documents, organizing case files, and supporting tax attorneys in litigation or compliance matters. They may also help with tax filings, correspondence with tax authorities, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Remote paralegal tax specialists use digital tools to collaborate with legal teams and clients effectively.

How does a remote paralegal tax typically collaborate with attorneys and clients?

Remote paralegals in tax law work closely with attorneys by preparing legal documents, conducting tax-related research, and organizing client files using secure online platforms. Communication is often managed through video calls, emails, and project management tools to ensure everyone stays aligned despite the distance. Additionally, remote paralegals may interact directly with clients to gather necessary tax documentation and clarify details, making strong organizational and communication skills essential. This collaborative, virtual environment allows for flexibility but requires proactive engagement to maintain efficiency and accuracy.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote paralegal tax?

To excel as a Remote Paralegal in Tax, you need a solid understanding of tax law, legal research, and document preparation, usually backed by a paralegal certificate or associate’s degree. Familiarity with tax preparation software, e-filing systems, and legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis is typically required. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective written communication help you manage complex information and collaborate with attorneys and clients remotely. These skills ensure accuracy in legal documentation, compliance with tax regulations, and efficient support for legal teams in a virtual environment.

Position Summary

We are a growing, multi-unit franchise organization seeking an experienced, highly organized, and proactive Corporate Paralegal to join our team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, staying ahead of deadlines, and managing multiple priorities. The Corporate Paralegal will support several areas of the business, including commercial real estate and lease administration, municipal licensing and permitting, property tax matters, corporate compliance, and acquisitions.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to communicate effectively with internal leadership, landlords, government agencies, outside consultants, and other business partners.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Lease Administration

Manage a portfolio of commercial real estate leases, amendments, renewals, easements, and landlord waivers across multiple locations.

Maintain and oversee lease tracking, including renewal options, expirations, rent increases, notice deadlines, insurance requirements, and other critical dates.

Coordinate with landlords, property managers, and internal leadership regarding maintenance matters, tenant improvement allowances, estoppel certificates, and other lease-related issues.

Identify opportunities to improve and optimize existing lease arrangements.

Municipal Licensing & Permitting

Oversee operational licensing and permitting requirements, including health permits, fire permits, certificates of occupancy, building and sign permits, and business tax receipts.

Track local and state permit renewals to help prevent compliance gaps or interruptions to operations.

Manage annual property tax assessments, billings, and escrow reconciliations.

Work collaboratively with landlords and outside tax consultants on property tax assessments and appeals.

Compliance & Corporate Governance

Assist with corporate compliance requirements, mandatory reporting, corporate filings, and policy updates.

Maintain corporate filings, board resolutions, and ownership records for subsidiaries and LLCs.

Assist with internal compliance audits, risk management documentation, and insurance certificate tracking.

Corporate Acquisitions & Transactional Support

Support corporate development and acquisition activity from due diligence through closing and post-acquisition integration.

Draft, review, organize, and maintain transaction documents, including purchase agreements, lease assignments and assumptions, bills of sale, and closing checklists.

Coordinate entity formations, foreign qualifications, certificates of good standing, and corporate resolutions across multiple operating entities.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree and/or ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate.

Minimum of 6 years of corporate or law firm paralegal experience.

Experience supporting franchise, retail, restaurant, or other multi-unit operations is a strong plus.

Strong experience with commercial lease administration, lease abstraction, database management, and legal document review.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Comfortable communicating with government agencies, landlords, vendors, consultants, and internal leadership.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Proven ability to independently manage a high volume of responsibilities and competing deadlines with accuracy.

Strong track record of meeting deadlines, following through, and proactively driving results.

What We Offer

We are a hard-working, growing organization that values teamwork, accountability, and people who take pride in what they do.

Competitive compensation based on experience.

Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.

401(k) retirement plan.

Generous paid time off and paid holidays.

Flexible hybrid/primarily remote work environment.

Professional growth opportunities within a growing organization.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced paralegal who wants to take ownership of their work, gain exposure to multiple areas of the business, and grow with an expanding multi-unit franchise organization.
