Job description

Overview
Provides temporary, onsite and remote clinical, quality, and regulatory support to hospice and palliative care locations requiring assistance with survey readiness, active survey response, or post-survey recovery.
This role is deployed across markets to assess performance, support corrective action planning, and drive rapid improvement in compliance, documentation, and care delivery practices. The Specialist partners with clinical and operational leadership to stabilize performance, ensure regulatory readiness, and support successful survey outcomes. This is a highly mobile, individual contributor role focused on rapid assessment, intervention, and recovery in high-risk or high-priority situations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite and remote support to care center(s) for survey readiness, active survey events, and post-survey recovery.
  • Conduct assessments of clinical, documentation, and operational practices to identify compliance risks and performance gaps.
  • Develop and support implementation of corrective action plans to address survey findings and improve regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with care center and market leadership to prioritize actions, monitor progress, and ensure sustained improvement.
  • Provide coaching and education to clinical and operational staff on regulatory requirements, documentation standards, and clinical best practices.
  • Assist with interpretation and application of CMS Conditions of Participation, hospice regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Support survey readiness activities, including mock surveys, documentation review, and staff preparation.
  • Monitor resolution of deficiencies and support follow-up actions to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Provide feedback and reporting on risks, progress, and outcomes to market, sub-regional, regional, and enterprise leadership.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Practice Leads and Quality leadership to align interventions with organizational quality and care delivery priorities.
  • Maintain flexibility to travel and deploy rapidly to support organizational needs across multiple markets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational strategy, regulatory readiness, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Required-
1. Current, unencumbered clinical licensure; Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) strongly preferred.
2. Five (5+) years of experience in hospice or palliative care.
3. Experience with regulatory surveys, survey preparation, or compliance audits.
4. Experience developing or implementing corrective action plans.
5. Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation, hospice regulations, and accreditation standards.
6. Experience reviewing clinical documentation and care delivery practices.
7. Ability to travel extensively, including short-notice and extended deployments.

1. Experience supporting multiple sites or regions.
2. Experience in survey recovery or turnaround situations.
3. Experience conducting mock surveys or readiness assessments.
