Are you searching for a mission-driven career?
Lifeline of Ohio coordinates and promotes organ, eye, and tissue donation across Ohio and is currently seeking an Organ Administrator On Call (AOC) to join our team.
Consistent with the mission, vision and values of Lifeline of Ohio, the AOC maximizes organ donation through exceptional donor management and allocation by forming strong, effective partnerships with donor hospitals and clinical teams. They ensure that no opportunity for donation is lost through a can-do attitude, asking the right questions and pursuing all possible avenues for donation. AOCs collaborate with other department Clinical Supervisors, managers and the Director of Organ Operations to coordinate the collective achievement of organ recovery goals.
*This is a full-time, exempt, benefits eligible role. This position works 10 shifts per month, each shift being 24 hours in duration.

Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, or South Carolina
Responsibilities :
  1. Make critical decisions regarding staffing, utilization of resources, case management, allocation and providing real time support as well as education to clinical staff.
  2. Ensures that all donor evaluations and organ cases are carried out based on Lifeline of Ohio, Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), OPTN / UNOS, Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and recommendations.
  3. Collaborates with the Medical Director(s) and other physician consults in evaluating donor suitability and setting appropriate donor case plans.
  4. Is knowledgeable of Lifeline of Ohio policies and procedures, and ensures they are followed on every referral/donation case.
  5. Demonstrates an understanding of the legal and hospital requirements for death declaration and organ donation.
  6. Will review the documentation on donor cases in real time for the accuracy of the following but not limited to; brain death documentation, ABO & ABO Subtyping, serologies, hemodilution, COVID testing and other OPTN documentation requirements.
  7. Engages proactively in donation referral and case activity by providing thorough, in-depth guidance to organ recovery team members utilizing highly developed clinical expertise and advanced knowledge of the organ donation process.
  8. Effectively help guide clinical staff though the implementation of standard organ donor management guidelines as well as help direct donor management to optimize organ function.
  9. Ensure that donated organs are allocated in an efficient, equitable, and timely manner in accordance with Lifeline of Ohio and OPTN/UNOS policies.
  10. Ensures organs and tissue will be recovered and preserved to maximize utilization in accordance with Lifeline of Ohio and OPTN/UNOS policies.
  11. Remotely participate in routine AOC meetings, staff meetings and other meetings that are directly related to the OAOC position.
  12. Remotely participate in process improvement and data development projects as well as case reviews and team educations.
  13. Provides regulatory oversight and verification of critical aspects of the donation process such as death notes, hemodilution, increased risk status, serology results, allocation variances, etc.
  14. Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as Organ coordinator with donor management organ allocation organ recovery / operating room and perfusion experience
  • One year AOC experience a huge plus!
  • Must have advanced clinical skills and a demonstrated ability to drive results to improve processes and outcomes with the use of critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Successful demonstration of strong initiative, collaboration and communication skills with discretionary decision- making ability.
  • Ability to analyze and assess situations, create solutions to solve problems and motivate others to continually improve the processes necessary to meet organizational deliverables.
  • CPTC and ACLS required
