How much do remote optical lens manufacturing jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 15, 2026, the average hourly pay for remote optical lens manufacturing in the United States is $25.33, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $22.36 and $27.88 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote optical lens manufacturing roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote optical lens manufacturing often encounter challenges such as maintaining precision in lens specifications while working with virtual teams and ensuring quality control without direct, in-person supervision. Communication across different time zones and reliance on digital tools for sharing technical details can also be hurdles. To overcome these, it's important to use robust project management software, adhere to standardized operating procedures, and participate in regular virtual check-ins with quality assurance teams. Building strong remote collaboration habits and staying updated on the latest manufacturing technologies can help ensure success in this role.

What is remote optical lens manufacturing?

Remote optical lens manufacturing is the process of designing, producing, and finishing optical lenses, such as those for eyeglasses or cameras, using digital technologies that allow technicians to work from locations outside of a central manufacturing facility. This often involves receiving digital prescriptions or lens specifications, operating computer-controlled machinery remotely, and coordinating with local labs or shipping centers. Remote manufacturing increases efficiency, reduces costs, and enables faster delivery of customized lenses. It requires a combination of technical skills, familiarity with optical standards, and the ability to troubleshoot issues using remote communication tools.

What is the difference between Remote Optical Lens Manufacturing vs Remote Optical Lens Assembler?

AspectRemote Optical Lens ManufacturingRemote Optical Lens Assembler
CredentialsTechnical certifications, optical manufacturing trainingBasic assembly skills, technical knowledge
Work EnvironmentManufacturing facilities, labs, remote setups for design/testingAssembly lines, remote work for quality checks
Industry UsageOptical manufacturing companies, labsOptical product assembly companies, labs
Job FocusDesign, production, quality control of lensesAssembling lenses, quality inspection

Remote Optical Lens Manufacturing involves designing and producing lenses, requiring technical certifications and working in manufacturing environments. In contrast, Remote Optical Lens Assembler focuses on assembling and inspecting lenses, often with basic technical skills. Both roles are essential in the optical industry but differ in responsibilities and work settings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Remote Optical Lens Manufacturing, and why are they important?

To excel in Remote Optical Lens Manufacturing, you need a solid understanding of optical science, precision measurement, and quality control, often backed by a relevant technical degree or vocational training. Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software, lens grinding and coating machinery, and remote monitoring systems is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills in this field. These competencies ensure the accurate production of high-quality lenses and efficient coordination across geographically distributed teams.

  • 401K Company match (up toย 4% โ€”ย dollar for dollar)ย
  • Professional development, training, and tuition reimbursement programsย
  • Excellent medical, dental, vision, and life insurance policy optionsย
  • Opportunities for career advancement with anย industry leadingย company!ย

We are seeking a Lead AI Engineer to join our Business Operations team.ย This position may be able to work remotely from anywhere within the United States.ย ย

Theย Lead AI Engineerย is the first engineering hire on AFL's AI Enablement team, responsible for designing, building, and deploying agentic AI systems that automate the operational backbone of the business through workflow orchestration, model adaptation, and analytics. Working directly with the AI Enablement Manager, the Lead AI Engineer will helpย layย the technical foundation the rest of the team will build on โ€” including model selection and management, deployment posture, orchestration patterns,ย evaluationย andย audit. As the team grows, an AI Product Manager and AI Operations Specialists will join to take on intake, sequencing, stakeholder coordination, and product ownership of deployed solutions, allowing engineers to stay focused on build work.ย

Responsibilities:ย ย

Architecture & Technical Foundationย ย

  • Establishesย the architecturalย patterns, evaluation practices, and deployment standards for the teamย
  • Makes framework and model recommendations that set the foundation for how the team builds โ€” evaluates orchestration frameworks, selects deployment patterns, trains and fine-tunes models, andย determinesย where managed platforms end and custom build beginsย

Solution Design & Deliveryย ย

  • Translates proposed business solutions into technical plans โ€” defines product life cycles, prioritizes the backlog, and breaks initiatives into buildable workย
  • Owns solutions end-to-end: technical planning, architecture,ย build, deploy, and the monitoring that keeps them honest in productionย

Production Reliabilityย ย
