The opportunity

As a Senior Field Service Technician within Hitachi Energy's Service Business, you will serve as a trusted technical expert supporting the full lifecycle of customer-owned power and distribution transformers across complex grid environments. This role is designed for experienced professionals who want to apply their deep field knowledge to high-impact, project-based work-leading critical installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, repair, and end-of-life activities while acting as a key technical partner to customers and internal teams. With significant autonomy, frequent travel, and exposure to diverse sites and challenges, this position offers the opportunity to further refine your expertise, influence field execution quality, and continue growing your career as a senior technical authority in the power industry.

How you'll make an impact

As a Senior Field Service Technician, your primary contribution may behandson technical execution, field leadership, or a combination of both, depending on your background and project needs.


Field Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate transformer service activities across installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, and endoflife projects.

  • Act as the senior onsite technical representative for customers.

  • Coordinate field resources and ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical standards.

  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to resolve complex field challenges.


Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform, oversee, or validate transformer testing and diagnostic activities.

  • Support vacuum processing, oil handling, internal inspections, and component assembly as required by project scope.

  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for complex transformer issues.

Your background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

  • Associate degree or twoyear technical diploma with 5-10+ years of progressive transformer field service experience, or High School Diploma / GED with 7-12+ years of progressive transformer field service experience.

  • Demonstrated experience performing transformer installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning activities.

  • Handson experience performingor overseeingtransformer testing and diagnostic activities.

  • Experience with oil handling, vacuum processing, and internal transformer inspections.

  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel extensively to customer sites.

  • Strong technical problemsolving skills and ability to work effectively in projectbased field environments.
