Job description

ABS is seeking an exceptional Project Manager to join us full-time. In this senior role, you will lead end-to-end delivery of AI projects across a maritime portfolio, orchestrating a team of 5 - 10 technical and domain specialists. You will own planning, execution, and governance for dozens of concurrent client engagements, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality are consistently met.

This position can be based in Houston, Texas; Knoxville, Tennessee; or Washington, DC.

What You Will Do:

  • Operate at the intersection of commercial, technical, and operational teams to translate demand into executable, high-impact AI solutions across all AI Practice services.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of AI projects across a maritime portfolio, owning scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships, managing expectations, and driving high satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Coordinate and allocate a team of 5 - 10 AI and domain specialists across multiple concurrent engagements, balancing workload, priorities, and development opportunities.
  • Maintain delivery quality and consistency by enforcing standards, facilitating reviews, and driving continuous improvement across projects and workstreams.
  • Partner with commercial and technical leads to translate pipeline demand into executable delivery plans, forecast resource needs, and support revenue and margin visibility.
  • Track and report project and portfolio performance, providing clear status, risk, and financial updates to internal leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and manage project risks, dependencies, and issues, driving mitigation plans and structured decision-making across business lines.

What You Will Need:
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, with business or STEM disciplines preferred.
  • 5+ years of project management experience leading complex, technically focused projects in IT, OT, or engineering environments.
  • Proven track record managing multi-stakeholder, multi-project portfolios in industrial or safety-critical sectors (e.g., maritime, energy, offshore, logistics, or similar).
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams and vendors, with responsibility for project financials, forecasts, and performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with AI, data, or digitalization initiatives in operational environments is highly desirable, particularly within or adjacent to the maritime sector.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong project management capabilities, including hands-on experience with scoping, scheduling, budgeting, risk and issue management, and status reporting across concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including experience with project P&L, forecasting, margin management, and supporting commercial decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams (e.g., data, AI, engineering, and domain experts) and align them to clear milestones and outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including engaging senior client sponsors and internal business leaders with clear, concise updates and recommendations.
  • Familiarity with structured delivery frameworks (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum) and proficiency with project/portfolio management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical detail into actionable plans, trade-offs, and risk-based decisions.
  • Ability to operate in matrixed, cross-business environments, coordinating demand and delivery across AI Strategy, AI Assistants, Custom Models, Process Optimization, Policy Optimization, and Data Standardization initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a disciplined approach to documentation, governance, and continuous improvement. 

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $110,000 USD

Starting salary is based on multiple factors including skillset and experience.
