This position serves as a key role in the site's Industrial Hygiene program. The person in this position must understand and communicate the implications of applicable Health and Safety regulations and hazards to various levels of the organization within the plant. Additionally, the position must work with the plant management team to develop and implement cost-effective solutions to mitigate health and safety risks for the workers.

A Day in the Life

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
   Management of  health risks within the site, including but not limited to chemical, biological, and physical hazards. 
   Responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance in all areas of Industrial Hygiene.
   Management of the site annual IH monitoring program and site comprehensive exposure assessment process. 
   Completion of annual exposure assessment plan and reporting to management of findings.
   Management of the site breathing air program.
   Develop recommendations for improvements based on exposure assessment and or monitoring results.
   Proficiently utilizes and manages the site Occupational Health Database, including, but not limited to, assigning Similar Exposure Groups (SEGs), performing health risk assessments, documenting monitoring, reporting, and medical surveillance assignments.
   Develop, implement, and maintain assigned site Health and Safety procedures and training programs.  
   Develop and maintain site health and safety procedures and help functional groups translate requirements into practice.  
   Maintain an up-to-date chemical inventory, manage the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system, and review new chemicals.
   Develop and implement turnaround IH management plans.  Provide support to health & safety needs during turnaround execution.
   Support field data collection during planned and unplanned events, which may require the use of respirators, SCBA, etc.
   Provide guidance and mentoring to other Health & Safety Department personnel.
   Collaborate with other company representatives to gather information on compliance strategies and alternative options, share this information internally, and apply it while developing compliance strategies at the site.
   Engage regularly with the site Health and Wellness Clinicians to address overlapping projects, implement improvements related to Industrial Hygiene, or investigate exposures.
   Interface with the Corporate Occupational Health team. 
   Completion of annual Health and Safety program reviews as assigned.
   Successful follow-through on assigned action items from audits and incident investigations.
   Develop, maintain, and develop action plans for Industrial Hygiene key performance indicators. 
   Recommends engineering, administrative, and PPE controls for various health risks.
   Authority to STOP unsafe work when necessary.
   Review and approve requested variances to procedures or practices.

You Bring This Value

   BS/MS in Industrial Hygiene or BS in Occupational Health and Safety with Industrial Hygiene emphasis or experience 
   Possesses knowledge of OSHA regulations, Industrial Hygiene methodologies, and equipment. 
   Comprehensive understanding of occupational health and basic understanding of toxicology, epidemiology, and occupational medicine.
   Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to support the HSE department, operations, and other functional groups to manage health risks, to comply with company standards and regulations

Preferred Qualifications
   At least 6 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing environment
   CIH
   Familiarity with the Cority industrial hygiene platform
