Hillside Behavioral Health Center is actively seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team as a full-time remote provider. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in conducting thorough mental health evaluations, formulating personalized treatment plans, and facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct preliminary interviews and maintain thorough documentation of client cases from initial consultations through completion of treatment.
  • Evaluate clients' mental, behavioral, and emotional health using established methodologies and evidence-based practices.
  • Develop tailored intervention and recovery plans pertinent to the needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups, ensuring alignment with best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, employing therapeutic techniques that promote healing and resilience.
  • Monitor client progress throughout the course of treatment, making necessary adjustments to intervention strategies based on observed outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other mental health specialists, physicians, nurses, and social workers on intervention plans, ensuring holistic care for clients.
  • Conduct follow-ups with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients who have been hospitalized, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Identify and address behaviors that impede recovery, working closely with clients to foster personal accountability and growth.
  • Educate and support family members and primary caregivers, equipping them with strategies to manage mental health challenges and improve client outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your client base will include a diverse population reflecting the dynamic community of Houston, Texas. You will engage with individuals facing a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and adjustment issues, allowing you to apply your skills in a meaningful way that directly impacts their lives.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Must possess current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Texas.
  • Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Demonstrated experience as a mental health counselor with a proven track record of facilitating successful therapeutic outcomes.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly with experience in AVATAR or similar platforms.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with clients with underlying physical and emotional health conditions, as well as addiction disorders.
  • Familiarity with best practices as dictated by the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
  • In-depth knowledge of medications prescribed by medical professionals and their effects on mental health management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for conveying complex ideas simply and effectively.
