Many of our staff have been with SC&A for years because they value the ability to do meaningful work alongside highly experienced professionals in fields impacting public health, environmental protection, and long-term sustainability.Position SummarySC&A is seeking an experienced National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) professional to lead and support complex environmental review efforts for federal clients like the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Department of Energy (DOE) involved in nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure, decommissioning, and related programs. Successful applicants will have a radiological/nuclear background with demonstrated experience in nuclear facilities siting, construction, decommissioning, and/or waste management.
This role is designed for someone who already knows the work - an established senior NEPA practitioner who values flexibility, collaboration, and the opportunity to contribute to projects with real environmental and public health impacts.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead multidisciplinary NEPA projects and environmental review teams
  • Manage preparation of EAs, EISs, and related technical documentation
  • Support technically challenging projects involving nuclear facilities, environmental remediation, energy systems, and federal infrastructure
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to federal clients and project stakeholders
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic project planning
Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree from an accredited university
  • Significant experience leading or preparing NEPA documentation for federal programs or facilities (min. 15 years preferred)
  • Experience working on NRC and DOE documents is essential
  • Demonstrated experience in nuclear facilities siting, construction, decommissioning, and/or waste management strongly preferred
  • Strong project management and client communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across distributed technical teams
  • Due to the requirements of federal contracts directly related to this role, U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance is required
Location & Work ArrangementThis position is remote (work from home) and open to qualified candidates located anywhere within the United States. Periodic travel may be required based on project needs.
The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $175,000 DOE/DOQ.
