This is a fully remote (Must live in the U.S.) position.
Position Summary:
Our Network Engineers are responsible for helping IQ Fiber deliver the best possible Broadband Internet service to customers in our growing service areas. In this role, the Engineer assists in the design and configuration of core and access networks. Our Network Engineers work with transport providers, various carrier-class network equipment, servers, Wi-Fi devices and other gear.
The successful candidate will support other team members and customers with installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and training. The position is a full-time position that also requires participation in an after-hours on-call support program. This is a unique opportunity to get involved in a cutting-edge startup operating in a growing industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the design, configuration, enhancement, and troubleshooting of IQ Fiber's core and access networks.
  • Support field engineers in the deployment and expansion of IQ Fiber's state-of-the-art FTTP broadband delivery network.
  • Appropriately escalate critical network conditions to Technical Operations and Outside Plant (OSP) staff.
  • Configure, manage, and optimize network monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Make recommendations for improving the performance and operation of the IQ Fiber network based on the analysis of data.
  • Create and administer detailed, technical MOPs (Methods of Procedure) to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of network equipment.
  • Deploy and support public Wi-Fi network services.
  • Assist in administering and maintaining Linux and Windows servers and applications.
  • Provide tier 3 technical support as part of the IQ Fiber Network Operations Center (NOC).
  • Act as a resource for tier 2 technicians in providing technical support for residential and business broadband services.
  • Support IQ Fiber's NOC supervisor in optimizing the performance of the NOC.
  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting advance networking and Wi-Fi issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with a small team of Network Engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a network engineer role.
  • 2+ years' experience with Juniper MX and QFX product lines.
  • Experience deploying and managing a Service Provider network (JNCIS-SP, JNCIP-SP, or Nokia SRC certification a plus).
  • Experience with Nokia 7750 routers and related SR OS configurations.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in telecommunications or networking preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with fiber optics, GPON, XGS-PON
  • Experience working with BGP, MPLS, DHCP, VLANs, Static and Dynamic Routing Protocols, VPNs, VRRP, ERPS.
  • Linux administration skills a plus.
  • Other networking-related credentials a plus (i.e. CCIE, CCNP, Network+)
  • Ability to utilize considerable independent judgement, discretion, and initiative in carrying out day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge or telecommunications systems and operations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical requirements, methods of procedures, and product data sheets.
  • Ability to use inductive reasoning techniques to effectively troubleshoot system problems.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of diverse identities, perspectives, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong learning orientation. Ability to leverage all resources and be creative in self-learning to continue adapting to changing issues and trends.
  • A desire and ability to understand the diverse needs of internal and external customers and to create experiences and deliver services that exceed their expectations.
  • A desire and ability to utilize digital tools for organizational information, individual, and teamwork.
  • Experience working with and configuring a variety of network and server hardware.
