Job Summary - Senior Account Manager - Gas Utilities (Eastern North America)
Landis+Gyr is seeking an experienced gas utility professional to lead strategic account engagement with Investor Owned Gas Distribution Utilities across Eastern North America. This role is ideal for candidates with direct experience inside a gas utility-particularly in metering, operations, engineering, or AMI-who are interested in applying their industry knowledge in a customer facing, commercially focused role. The successful candidate will leverage a deep understanding of gas utility operations, regulatory environments, and business challenges to guide utilities through complex metering and AMI programs. Sales success in this role is driven by credibility, insight into how utilities operate, and the ability to align technology solutions with operational, safety, and business outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary strategic point of contact for assigned Investor Owned Gas Utilities across Eastern North America
• Develop a deep understanding of customer gas utility operations, including metering programs, field operations, asset management, regulatory drivers, and organizational decision making
• Engage credibly with utility stakeholders across operations, engineering, metering, IT, regulatory, supply chain, and executive leadership
• Lead sales efforts for complex gas metering and AMI programs, including new deployments, technology refreshes, and long term modernization initiatives
• Meet or exceed annual and multi year objectives for revenue, bookings, and backlog growth through strategic account development
• Translate customer operational challenges into solution strategies that improve safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and total cost of ownership
• Coordinate with internal technical, product, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are aligned with customer needs and implementation realities
• Maintain accurate account plans, opportunity forecasts, and customer records; provide regular updates and reporting to management
• Represent Landis+Gyr professionally and credibly in all customer interactions
• Support and adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy
• Perform other duties as required
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience
• 5-10 years of experience working within a Natural Gas Distribution Utility in North America, or in a closely related role supporting gas utility operations
• Background may include gas metering operations, field services, AMR/AMI programs, engineering, pressure and measurement, asset management, or utility program leadership
• Experience engaging with regulated utility environments and understanding how business, regulatory, and operational priorities intersect
• Prior commercial, account management, or customer facing experience is a plus, but utility domain expertise is the primary requirement
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong understanding of gas distribution utility operations and business drivers
• Working knowledge of gas metering technologies, including diaphragm, rotary, and ultrasonic meters, as well as AMR/AMI systems and communications architectures
• Ability to understand and articulate how metering and AMI investments impact safety, reliability, compliance, operational efficiency, and long term utility economics
• Comfort engaging in consultative discussions with utility stakeholders, grounded in real world operational experience
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation, business cases, and financial justifications
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with personal computers and standard business software, including Microsoft Office
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross functional internal teams
Accountabilities / Measures:
• Achievement of assigned revenue, booking, and strategic account objectives
• Quality of customer relationships and depth of engagement across utility organizations
• Strategic alignment of opportunities with customer business and operational priorities
Business Relationships:
• Regular interaction with gas utility customers, internal Landis+Gyr teams, and industry contacts
• Engagement with utility executives, operations leadership, engineering teams, and regulatory stakeholders
