Job Summary:
Hawaii Pacific University, School of Nursing is seeking adjunct faculty candidates to teach asynchronous MSN online courses at the graduate level. Interviews will commence once completed applications are received and minimum qualifications are met.
Opportunities to teach courses are based on skill level and departmental needs. Positions are filled on a term basis to fill the changing needs of the School of Nursing. Courses experiences are offered days, weekends and evenings to meet the needs of the University, our students and our community partners.

Location: Online instruction, open to remote applicants.
Compensation:
$1,800 per credit - Masters prepared
$2,000 per credit - Doctorate prepared
This is primarily an online teaching position, dependent on course enrollment.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in nursing or pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • A current and unencumbered Registered Nurse license to teach nursing courses OR a Pharmacy license to teach pharmacy courses.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in nursing (PhD, EdD or DNP) or education or a science related to nursing from an accredited institution preferred. If doctoral degree is not in nursing must have a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution. Applicants who are in candidacy and expect to complete the dissertation (or final project phase) of the doctoral program within one-year will be considered.
  • Current board certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Online teaching experience

Other Qualifications:
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
  • Experience working effectively with those of other cultures and backgrounds, including the commitment to building a culturally diverse educational environment.
  • Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.
  • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
  • Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position.
  • Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.
  • Must submit a tuberculosis clearance upon hire.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
1. Instruction (95%)
  • Teaches one or more academic subjects in area of discipline within prescribed curriculum.
  • Prepares and delivers course content to students, whether in the classroom, clinical laboratory or online.
  • Stimulates class discussions.
  • Regular attendance as required by the course.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
