Remote Model Maker information

How do Remote Model Makers typically collaborate with design teams and clients when working off-site?

Remote Model Makers often use digital tools like video conferencing, project management software, and cloud-based file sharing to maintain close communication with design teams and clients. Regular virtual meetings are scheduled to review project progress, discuss design updates, and gather feedback. Although physically separated, clear documentation and frequent updates help ensure that models meet client specifications and deadlines. This collaborative approach enables Remote Model Makers to contribute effectively while enjoying the flexibility of remote work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Model Maker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Model Maker, you need expertise in 3D modeling, design principles, and attention to detail, typically supported by a degree in industrial design, architecture, or related fields. Proficiency with CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Blender and familiarity with file-sharing platforms are crucial. Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills help ensure project requirements are met while collaborating remotely. These abilities ensure precise, high-quality models are delivered efficiently, meeting client expectations in a virtual work environment.

What are remote model makers?

Remote model makers are professionals who create physical or digital models—such as architectural prototypes, product mock-ups, or 3D visualizations—while working from a remote location rather than in a traditional studio or workshop. They use various tools and software to design and fabricate models based on client specifications, collaborating virtually with teams or clients. This role typically requires strong skills in CAD software, 3D modeling, and sometimes physical fabrication techniques, depending on the type of models being produced. Remote model makers often work on projects for industries like architecture, entertainment, engineering, or product design.

Job description

About the Team

The VECKTA Marketplace connects buyers with providers of capital, equipment, and services to deploy renewable-led onsite energy systems to commercial and industrial sites across North America and Australia. As the market scales, we are building our strategy and operations team to coordinate growth, and to deliver great outcomes for all participants in our ecosystem.

About the role:

On a typical day, you will be guiding new demand into the market and working closely with supplier partners to get great proposals for energy projects. You will help guide our product strategy, build tools and refine processes to help our users and the VECKTA team 10x their impact, analyze data to understand and improve performance, and ensure we never stop growing and performing. If you have a bias toward action, enjoy moving fast, and have demonstrated success in using operational excellence to drive business impact, we want to hear from you!

What you’ll do

The primary responsibility of Strategy and Operations is to ensure participants in VECKTA’s ecosystem build great relationships, enjoy a positive experience, and get the value they desire from VECKTA. Responsibilities include:

  • Connecting commercial and industrial energy users to the capital, equipment and services they need to build onsite energy systems

  • Helping suppliers profitably grow their businesses with access to proven opportunities

  • Contributing to VECKTA’s product strategy, bringing validated learnings from the market into our technology roadmap

Success in this role means accelerating the deployment of distributed energy systems, and the transition to a more resilient, lower carbon future. You will use your relationship building and facilitation skills to help VECKTA users get the absolute most out of our platform, and you will be an empowered decision maker to act on your penchant for data and analytics in managing market dynamics, spotting opportunities, and capturing them to grow the market.

This role will work closely with our:

  • Sales team, who source onsite energy opportunities and help move the project development forward;

  • Capital Markets team, who ensure efficient funding of projects;

  • Modeling team, who complete technical and economic optimization of on-site energy projects;

  • Product team, who plan and manage the development of our technology platform.

You’re excited about this opportunity because...

You are excited about getting your hands dirty as an operator, while making the connection between business strategy, product strategy, and customer outcomes. You love to push yourself to achieve extraordinary results, and through that will push VECKTA to be the best we can be.

We love team members who are:

  • Enthusiastically engaging and committed to building great relationships with VECKTA users across the demand and supply sides of the market;

  • Curious about what makes markets work, with a burning desire to make the VECKTA marketplace an amazing place to do business;

  • Determined to make a positive impact on the world. The energy transition could not be more critical to humanity right now, and we play an essential role in accelerating change.

A background in either or both of the following is a bonus:

  • Renewable energy project development or energy procurement

  • Strategy & operations in either B2B or B2C marketplaces

Qualifications and experience:

  • 3+ years of experience post-graduation in a related field

  • A bachelor’s degree

VECKTA is a remote-first company, with team members based across North America and Australia. To give you an idea of time-zones and your typical work day, our home base is in San Diego, and our market operations leader is based in Melbourne, Australia. We get the team together in San Diego on a regular basis.

Please include in your application a brief cover letter, letting us know (1) what excites you about this opportunity and (2) how you believe your skills, knowledge and experience will help to accelerate growth in the VECKTA Marketplace.
