About the Team

The Merchant Selection Team enables SMBs and Enterprises to onboard and be successful on the Uber Eats marketplace. We build systems that power outbound sales, sign up & onboarding flows and guide merchants towards early lifecycle success.

About the Role

In this role as an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team that constructs the essential systems enabling local businesses to integrate with Uber Eats efficiently and realize immediate value. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product, Design, Analytics, Operations, and ML to establish and execute a strategic roadmap. This strategy will prioritize both the long-term scalability and reliability of the platform alongside rapid enhancements focused on the merchant experience.


What You'll Do:

  • Lead a team of backend and fullstack engineers driving end-to-end product deliveries
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Analytics and GTM teams to build and execute the roadmap, ensuring a stable, scalable platform while maintaining rapid delivery of merchant features.
  • Oversee the prioritization and delivery of capabilities and architectural improvements to maximize user value and business impact.
  • Ensure operational excellence across all areas, including support, on-call, deployments, and incident management.
  • Champion and implement engineering best practices across the team

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills and technical expertise; ability to lead a platform team with deep domain knowledge and solve technical challenges through system design and problem-solving
  • Experience with high-scale, backend systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across different functions and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in maintaining reliability and extensibility to critical tier1 services
  • Unwavering commitment to maintaining high standards for personal contributions, team members, and product outcomes.
  • A successful track record of hiring and developing high-performing teams.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams through technical leads

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $232,000 per year - USD $258,000 per year.


For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $232,000 per year - USD $258,000 per year.


For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
