Job description

Head of Engineering
Location: Remote Canada or USA with some travel (ET preferred)
Our client, a growing medical services technology company, is building the platform that powers practice management for medical clinics across North America, covering operations, billing, accounting, and scheduling, with room to expand into adjacent healthcare and professional services sectors. They're now hiring their first senior technical leader, and the timing couldn't be more pivotal.
The product has been built by an external development partner, and over the next six months you'll lead the transition to full internal ownership. That means managing the vendor relationship, overseeing the IP and code transfer, and ensuring the Salesforce codebase (Apex, Lightning components, Flows, org metadata) is well structured, documented, and deployable. From there, you'll build the internal engineering team from scratch, define standards and culture from day one, and own the organization-wide AI strategy with the privacy rigor that patient data demands.
You bring 8+ years in software development with at least 3 in technical leadership, deep Salesforce platform expertise, experience managing external vendors, and working knowledge of HIPAA. Experience hiring engineering teams and practical AI implementation experience round out the profile. Salesforce architect certifications, Health Cloud exposure, or prior first-technical-hire experience are all pluses.
This is a remote role (Canada/USA) with occasional travel and a defined path to VP Engineering or CTO. You'll build rather than inherit, and shape healthcare technology that directly improves how clinics operate and patients are served.
Why This Role
  • Ownership from day one, with a defined path to VP Engineering or CTO
  • Build the team and culture rather than inherit someone else's
  • Direct influence on company-wide AI strategy, not just product engineering
  • Build healthcare technology that directly improves how clinics operate and patients are served
