Right now weโ€™re looking for a Health Information Management Professional โ€“ NACRS ER Coder to work in our Health Information Services department

Permanent Part-time 
Location:
Humber River Health โ€“ Wilson Site, cross site coverage may be required

Hours of work: Monday to Friday Days

Hourly rate: $31.739 - $32.794

Employee Group: Teamsters Clerical 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Review & analysis of patient records and assignment of ICD-10-CA/CCI codes
  • Applies ICD10-CA/CCI coding methodologies resulting in proper grouping outcomes
  • Abstracting information according to standards from CIHI (DAD, NACRS) and hospital policy
  • Ensures that all visits to be coded are done and balance at the end of each month
  • Document productivity in accordance with departmental protocols
  • Other related duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program
  • Certified Member of Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
  • 2-3 years previous experience in NACRS ER coding/abstracting preferred. 
  • Proven knowledge and use of the Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI), National Ambulatory Care database (NACRS), and other CIHI products and standards.
  • ICD10/CCI Classification Course preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Med2020 Winrecs abstract an asset
  • Working knowledge of Meditech 6.0 and/or 6.1 information systems an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hospital staff, co-workers, physicians and team members in a positive, cooperative manner.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a changing and sometimes stressful work environment
  • Applicants may be required to successfully complete full administrative testing, to include ICD-10-CA &CCI coding test
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
