Mechanical Engineer

Position: Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team. This mid-level role supports the design and delivery of mechanical and plumbing systems for architectural building projects and collaborates closely with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical fundamentals, initiative, and the ability to contribute to projects from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with mechanical and plumbing system design for building projects, including HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, and building automation systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and equipment selection in support of project design.
  • Develop and edit technical specifications and construction documents.
  • Create and modify design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Support senior engineers with research, design development, and client coordination.
  • Participate in construction observations and prepare technical field reports.
  • Communicate effectively with architects, engineers, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with project fee development and support small project team coordination.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of calculations, drawings, field observations, and client communications.
  • Contribute to technical quality reviews and constructability reviews to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Support ongoing professional development, training, and licensure requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program (or approved equivalent).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a four-year ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
    (experience requirements may vary based on degree path and education).
  • Passed the FE exam administered by NCEES.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in the United States or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, and building mechanical systems.
  • Ability to learn or apply UFC, DoD, and VA design criteria.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to train and support junior staff.
  • Ability to travel and attend local client or company meetings.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely perform site visits.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Pre-employment drug test, background check, and valid driver’s license required.
