Job description
The General Manager will lead the ongoing operations and performance of Baer's established manufacturing facility in Hudson, WI, ensuring alignment with the company's core values and strategic objectives. This role is accountable for the full business performance of the location, including financial results, commercial growth, operational execution, and team leadership. Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing - Baer, this role is responsible for overseeing the Business Development, Operations, Lean/Engineering, and Project Delivery teams within Baer Hudson, with a span of control of 140+ direct and indirect reports.
The GM will operate as the business leader of the Hudson facility, owning full P&L responsibility while driving continuous improvement, strengthening market position, and developing a high-performing leadership team. This role ensures the Hudson operation runs as a disciplined, scalable, and profitable business.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, results-driven leader with a strong track record of running established operations, improving margins, leading teams, championing company culture, and driving operational excellence through systems such as the Toyota Production System (TPS).

- Oversee day-to-day operations by managing production, materials, quality, and engineering to ensure products and projects meet customer requirements, are delivered on time, and are executed efficiently.
- Deploy and sustain Toyota Production System (TPS) principles across the operation to drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and improve throughput.
- Maintain best-in-class safety and quality by building a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all quality standards.
- Monitor facility performance by establishing, tracking, and continuously improving KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
- Drive process discipline and documentation to support operational consistency, scalability, and ISO-9001 readiness.
Financial & P&L Ownership
- Maintain full P&L responsibility for a $100M+ operation.
- Drive profitability through margin protection, pricing discipline, cost control, and financial accountability across the business.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting with accuracy and ownership.
- Make data-driven decisions that optimize revenue, margins, and long-term business performance.
- Lead the operation to achieve key financial targets.
Strategic Growth & Commercial Leadership
- Lead customer acquisition and market expansion efforts to grow revenue and strengthen Baer's market position.
- Support and contribute to business development efforts to build pipeline, win new customers, and expand existing relationships.
- Improve profitability by managing budgets responsibly, controlling costs, and delivering strong gross margin and EBITDA performance.
- Identify opportunities within existing and adjacent markets to drive sustainable growth.
- Align local strategy with corporate objectives while maximizing the Hudson location's performance.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop a high-performing and collaborative leadership team across business development, operations, and project delivery.
- Champion and drive a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
- Ensure department heads are aligned to common goals, expectations, and business priorities.
- Elevate employee engagement by communicating openly, recognizing contributions, and creating meaningful development pathways.
- Build bench strength by developing future leaders and creating clear succession pathways.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and accountability that inspires performance and supports individual and team growth.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong customer relationships by working closely with distributors, engineers, and designers to ensure product quality and alignment with customer needs.
- Support sales initiatives with the business development team to deliver timely quotes, understand market needs, and grow revenue.
- Keep stakeholders informed by providing senior management with accurate and timely updates on financial results, operational performance, and cultural progress.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field, preferred.
- 7+ years of leadership experience running $30-100M manufacturing operations or a similar environment.
- Experience applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive operational improvements.
- Proven experience leading the deployment of the Toyota Production System (TPS) in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in P&L oversight and ownership, operational efficiency, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Understanding of electrical construction and manufacturing workflows

Pay Range:
$143,360.00 - $220,160.00
