Job description

Who We Are
Verily Health is a data platform and technology company purpose-built to power AI-enabled precision health solutions that accelerate research and improve care for individuals and communities. Uniquely positioned at the intersection of technology, data science, and healthcare, Verily transforms multimodal health data into insights, models, and actions that make healthcare more personalized, predictive, and precise.
Description
Verily exists to bring the promise of precision health to everyone everyday, and our breadth of solutions of care, research, health financing, and population health monitoring serve customers across various market segments.
Verily is seeking a Business Development Lead to enable and accelerate Verily's next phase of commercial growth, with a focus on the Life Science/Medtech segment. Reporting to the VP, Business Development & Strategic Partnerships, you will join the team responsible for sourcing and interacting directly with prospective strategic customers, helping them collaborate on a massive scale with Verily on innovative healthcare technologies. You will work cross functionally across each Verily commercial function and with various teams and colleagues across Verily. This role will require you to be flexible and nimble and aggressively grow the Life Science/Medtech business to help establish Verily as the premier solution.
Responsibilities
  • Join a team of Business Development Leads charged with identifying, architecting, negotiating, and closing critical and complex strategic collaborations, working across Verily's lines of business and consistent with the business development strategy and objectives; gain key internal stakeholder and senior leadership support; and collaborate with Verily's cross-functional teams to drive growth.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the different lines of business, particularly our Pre (Workbench, Refinery, Exchange), Verily Me, Lifelong, Sightline, and Viewpoint products and capabilities across Verily. Use key learnings to help inform areas for future investment. Manage how the market perceives the company and how new partners/collaborators are perceived within Verily.
  • Develop, manage and own a robust prospect pipeline, KPIs and outcomes. Communicate well and partner effectively with colleagues within the Business Development & Strategic Partnerships function and the broader Commercial team on opportunities and obstacles.
  • Work closely with finance, legal, product, engineering, marketing, and science teams across a range of transaction types, including long-term collaborations, first-of-kind transactions, and multi-party agreements. Evaluate opportunities, conduct due diligence, negotiate agreement terms and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Work with Commercial leadership to define strategic requirements for strategic opportunities, determine appropriateness and operational fit with existing strategy; develop, nurture and manage a pipeline of major deals.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
  • MBA and/or other advanced degree and 10+ years of experience working in a business development or strategic partnerships role with specific experience selling innovative healthcare technology solutions.
  • Deal sheet with a proven record of strategic and revenue generating partnerships and collaborations, demonstrating a track record of managing and closing transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously lead multiple deals and complex deal structures from deal inception to successful execution with strong strategic and analytical skill and ability to drive exploration into new and emerging areas using creative problem solving skills and executive-level engagement.
  • Numerous pre-existing and deep relationships across key decision-makers within the Life Sciences/Medtech space and adjacent market segments.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, with a desire to help cross-functional teams achieve clarity and alignment, and a proven track record of working with cross-functional teams to achieve company objectives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in regulated environments and in managing and structuring partnerships and long-term collaborations in Life Sciences/Medtech and related verticals.
