Job description

Progressive Leasing is a leading provider of in-store and e-commerce lease-to-own solutions. With more than 20 years in FinTech, we've grown from start-up to industry leader by innovating, simplifying, and valuing people. We are a subsidiary of PROG Holdings (NYSE: PRG), a FinTech holding company with three business segments: Progressive Leasing, Purchasing Power (a leading employee purchase program for consumer products and services using payroll deduction), and Four, a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platform.

We are currently hiring an AI & Automation Builder - People to help modernize how work gets done across our People function and support PROG's broader AIenabled transformation.

This role is a workfromhome position and can be performed remotely anywhere in the continental US.

Employee Value Proposition (EVP):
PROG is dedicated to providing people with opportunity - opportunity for inclusive collaboration, opportunity for innovation, and opportunity for development.

WE ARE: The People team at PROG is operating at the center of an AIenabled shift in how the company works. Our focus is on replacing manual, slow, and repetitive HR work with intelligent, automated systems that actually run in the real world.

We don't design in decks - we build. The People team partners closely with the AI Center of Excellence (COE) to bring automation, agentic workflows, and modern tooling directly into daytoday HR operations.

YOU ARE: A handson builder who knows how to turn defined workflows into working automations.

You may come from a technical background and gravitated toward HR - or from People Ops and taught yourself to build. Either path works. What matters is that you can take a workflow spec, move fast, and deliver something that runs.

You're comfortable using AI tools as part of how you build, not just how you write. You like shipping MVPs, iterating with feedback, and seeing your work have visible impact for real users.

YOUR DAYTODAY:

  • Build AIpowered automations for core People workflows (recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, employee lifecycle, compliance)
  • Translate defined workflow specs or process maps into built, tested, and deployed automations
  • Build and deploy skills or agentic workflows in partnership with the AI COE, including work tied to PROG's active PIPER+ program
  • Use AI tools (Claude, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, or similar) as core building tools - for workflow logic, automation, and agent design
  • Integrate automations with Workday, Jira, Microsoft 365, and other tools in the PROG stack (API and MCP support provided)
  • Ship quickly and iterate: deliver functional MVPs, gather feedback, and improve over time
  • Maintain and enhance automations as People needs evolve
  • Document what you build so others can understand, maintain, and extend it
  • Partner closely with TA, People Ops, Total Rewards, and HR Technology leaders

YOU'LL BRING:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and ship automations - not just identify opportunities
  • Handson experience using AI tools (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to automate real workflows
  • Comfort with APIs, webhooks, and basic data formats (JSON)
  • Familiarity with nocode / lowcode tools; light scripting (Python, JavaScript, Apps Script) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of how HR / People functions operate and where automation adds value
  • Experience with enterprise HR systems (Workday strongly preferred)
  • Ability to clearly explain what you built to nontechnical stakeholders
  • Selfdirected, iterative working style - you build, test, and refine without waiting for perfection
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • AIenabled tools are already part of how work gets done at PROG, and their use will continue to expand. We value people who are curious, adaptable, and open to learning as workflows evolve.

WE OFFER:

  • Competitive Compensation
  • Full Health Benefits; Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance + Paid Parental Leave
  • CompanyMatched 401(k)
  • Paid Time Off + Paid Holidays + Paid Volunteer Hours
  • Employee Resource Groups (Black Inclusion Group, Women in Leadership, PRIDE, Adelante)
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Charitable Gift Matching
  • Jobrequired equipment and services
