• Establish and maintain a positive therapeutic relationship with clients, fostering trust and open dialogue.
• Conduct thorough assessments to diagnose mental health disorders, utilizing evidence-based practices to inform treatment plans.
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs, preferences, and circumstances of each client.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, employing various modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and systemic therapy.
• Regularly evaluate client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes and meet therapeutic objectives.
• Provide referrals to specialists and additional community resources to enhance client care as needed.
• Document client sessions and treatment plans accurately, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with ethical standards.

At the Self Care Learning Counseling Center, our clients come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. You will work with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and other mental health challenges. Your role will involve advocating for families, understanding the dynamics within relationships, and providing comprehensive support that fosters healing and growth.

• Active State licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is mandatory.
• A Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field is required.
• Demonstrated experience providing individual and group therapy, showcasing your therapeutic skills and ability to engage clients effectively.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities, ensuring effective management of a diverse caseload and administrative responsibilities.
• Proficiency in utilizing telehealth platforms for therapy sessions and documentation.

• Prior experience in a community health setting or clinic is advantageous.
• Familiarity with culturally competent practices and the ability to work with various demographics.
• Knowledge of local mental health resources and referral systems within the Houston area.
