Job description

Business Development Manager – Commercial Staffing

Company: The Midtown Group
Location: Remote; candidates must reside in Dallas, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio
Base Salary: $50,000–$60,000 plus a highly commission-driven compensation plan
Experience Level: Entry-level to early career

Position Overview

The Midtown Group is seeking a driven, energetic Business Development Manager to help expand our Commercial Staffing division across Texas.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional who wants to build a career in sales, staffing, and business development. Previous staffing experience is not required—we are willing to train someone with the right personality, work ethic, and competitive mindset.

The ideal candidate is a natural hunter who enjoys opening doors, building relationships, and turning conversations into business opportunities. This position offers a base salary of $50,000–$60,000 with significant commission potential for someone motivated by performance and results.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned Texas markets.
  • Prospect consistently through phone calls, email, LinkedIn, networking, referrals, and AI-powered outreach.
  • Build relationships with hiring managers, HR leaders, executives, and other key decision-makers.
  • Schedule and conduct discovery meetings to understand clients’ hiring needs.
  • Present staffing solutions across areas such as IT, finance and accounting, human resources, administrative support, and other professional services.
  • Develop proposals, negotiate service agreements, and move opportunities through the sales process.
  • Partner closely with recruiters to ensure a strong client and candidate experience.
  • Maintain accurate prospecting, activity, and pipeline information within the company’s CRM.
  • Use AI and technology to research companies, personalize outreach, improve productivity, and identify new opportunities.
  • Participate in local networking and client meetings as business needs arise.
  • Meet and exceed established sales, activity, and revenue goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong hunter mentality with the confidence to initiate conversations and pursue new business.
  • Competitive, motivated, and energized by commission-based earning potential.
  • Comfortable with cold calling, prospecting, follow-up, and hearing “no” without losing momentum.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy and confident learning new platforms, systems, and digital tools.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, or a strong interest in learning how to use AI effectively for sales and business development.
  • Quick learner who can absorb information, adjust messaging, and take coaching.
  • Organized and self-motivated, with the discipline to succeed in a remote environment.
  • Collaborative and willing to work closely with recruiting and leadership teams.
  • Professional, curious, resourceful, and able to build credibility with prospective clients.
  • Must reside in Dallas, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous experience in sales, recruiting, customer service, hospitality, fundraising, or another relationship-driven environment is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn, CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, Teams, and AI-based productivity tools is a plus.

Why Join The Midtown Group?

  • Remote flexibility within one of four major Texas markets.
  • Training and support for an early-career professional with strong potential.
  • Competitive base salary with a heavily commission-focused compensation structure.
  • Exposure to multiple industries and professional service areas.
  • Collaborative team environment with direct access to experienced recruiters and leadership.
  • Opportunity to build a client portfolio and grow into a high-performing business development professional.
  • A role where initiative, creativity, consistency, and results are recognized and rewarded.

The Right Person for This Role

You do not need years of staffing experience to succeed here. You do need confidence, persistence, curiosity, strong technology skills, and the willingness to create opportunities instead of waiting for them.

If you are motivated by goals, excited by sales, comfortable using AI and technology, and ready to build something meaningful, we would like to hear from you.
