The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

The American Heart Association’s Well-Being Works Better (WBWB) initiative is seeking a highly motivated Fall Intern to support national efforts advancing workplace health and well-being.

This role provides hands-on experience supporting multi-faceted employer-based initiatives , with a primary focus on Peer-to-Peer Learning and the Built to Thrive pilot program . The intern will contribute to program execution, operations, and knowledge development while working closely with program leadership and cross-functional teams.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
  • Internship Duration: 9/8/26-12/11/2626

Responsibilities

Program Operations & Coordination (Cross-Initiative)

  • Support coordination and day-to-day operations across WBWB initiatives
  • Maintain program trackers, timelines, and deliverables to ensure alignment across workstreams
  • Assist in the development and refinement of presentations, briefing materials, and program documentation
  • Conduct background research and synthesize insights related to workplace well-being, employer engagement, and health
  • Support tracking and documentation of key program metrics and evaluation inputs

Peer-to-Peer Learning

  • Assist in planning and execution of peer learning sessions, including logistics, communications, and materials preparation
  • Contribute to development of a structured repository of learning insights and best practices

Built to Thrive Pilot Program

  • Support coordination of pilot program activities, including employer engagement, webinars, and session logistics

Program Innovation & Knowledge Management

Explore and apply productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot or similar technologies) to enhance workflows, documentation, and program outputs

Qualifications

  • Currently a senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Public Health, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting projects, events, or program coordination with strong organizational skills.
  • Interest in workplace well-being, employer engagement, and human resources initiatives.
  • Interest in data tracking, evaluation, or insights development.
  • Curiosity and willingness to explore new tools and approaches to improve efficiency.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Canva.
  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection
  • Minimum availability of 25 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm ET or CT.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
