This position is remote within our NC, SC, VA footprint. Although this position is primarily remote, there are occasional events and meetings that may require you to work on-site at one of our Truliant locations.
Purpose of the Job
The Workday Platform System Administrator is responsible for technical administration, platform oversight (including standards for security/access controls, change management, integrations, and release readiness), and configuration oversight of the credit union's Workday platform. This role serves as the primary IT steward of Workday, ensuring the platform operates securely, efficiently, and in alignment with enterprise architecture standards and regulatory requirements.
The position partners closely with the Workday Product Owner and functional administrators in Human Resources, Finance, Organizational Development, Accounting, Purchasing, and other business units to support system configuration, maintain platform integrity, and enable new capabilities across the organization. As Workday expands to support additional functions such as vendor management, Contracts, Workday AI, and analytics, this role ensures the platform remains scalable, compliant, and well-governed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Serves as the primary technical administrator for the Workday platform, acting as the central IT point of accountability for platform stability, system health, and technical configuration. Partners closely with Workday Developers, Business Analysts, and Cyber Security to ensure aligned delivery, secure operations, and adherence to enterprise standards.
  • Maintains configuration standards and consistent naming conventions across the system to ensure clarity, scalability, and long-term maintainability of the Workday tenant as functionality expands across modules and business units.
  • Manages Workday tenant environments, including production, sandbox, and implementation tenants, ensuring appropriate separation of duties, controlled access, and readiness for testing, releases, and large-scale initiatives.
  • Evaluates and implements configuration changes with a cross module and enterprise mindset, ensuring changes align with Workday best practices, minimize downstream impacts, and support consistent user experiences across functional areas.
  • Documents system configurations, business processes, and tenant procedures to support operational continuity, knowledge transfer, audit requirements, and effective onboarding of new administrators and partners.
  • Ensures SSO consistency across the platform.
  • Ensures segregation of duties configurations meet financial and regulatory requirements, proactively identifying and mitigating potential conflicts in collaboration with Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Security teams.
  • Supports periodic user access reviews and audit inquiries, providing timely evidence, documentation, and remediation plans as needed to satisfy internal and external audit requirements.
  • Collaborates with Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Security stakeholders to maintain strong system controls, monitor control effectiveness, and ensure Workday configurations align with evolving regulatory expectations.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation to support regulatory examinations and audits, including system architecture, security design, configuration decisions, and change history.
  • Manages the review, testing, and documentation of Workday releases and updates, assessing impacts on existing configurations, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring readiness prior to deployment.
  • Coordinates change management activities for platform enhancements and configuration updates, including release planning, stakeholder communication, risk evaluation, and post-implementation validation.
  • Oversees integrations between Workday and internal or external systems, ensuring integrations are reliable, secure, properly monitored, and aligned with enterprise integration architecture standards.
  • Supports data integration processes using Workday tools such as EIBs, APIs, and middleware platforms by troubleshooting issues, monitoring data flows, and ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Serves as a technical advisor to the Workday Product Owner and functional administrators, providing guidance on platform capabilities, design options, limitations, and long-term implications of configuration decisions.
  • Translates business requirements into scalable, compliant Workday configurations, balancing operational efficiency with platform operations, security, and regulatory expectations-particularly for new modules or expanded use cases.
  • Supports enterprise reporting and analytics needs, partnering with stakeholders to ensure data integrity, optimal data sources, and accurate reporting across Workday domains.
  • Collaborates with cross functional stakeholders to enable data driven decision making, helping define reporting standards, validate metrics, and promote consistent and trusted use of Workday data.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills to analyze and resolve issues across tenant configuration, security, integrations, and reporting impacts.
  • Must have strong documentation skills, including configuration decisions, security changes, audit evidence, and operational runbooks/standard operating procedures.
