Are you a technical leader who enjoys solving complex industrial challenges and influencing business growth? As our Lead Rental Systems Engineer, you will help shape the strategy, capabilities, and solutions that drive success in temporary HVAC, heating, and power applications. This is an opportunity to operate at a high level while staying close to the work - mentoring engineers, enabling sales teams, supporting critical customer projects, and helping define the future of a growing rental business.

The Lead Rental Systems Engineer helps drive short- and long-term growth strategies across target verticals, applications, operational capabilities, and New Product Development (NPD).

This role supports and develops sales and engineering team to deliver on that strategy, including validating commercial hypotheses, refining customer segmentation, developing industry-specific technical sales playbooks, delivering sales training, and mentoring junior engineers.

The role also provides direct technical leadership on complex, high-value projects, designing and specifying temporary cooling, heating, and power solutions that maximize customer value.

    What you will do:

    • Lead the training and mentorship of Applications Engineers to strengthen technical expertise and organizational capability
    • Develop industry-specific technical playbooks that help position temporary HVAC, heating, and power solutions around customer value across key industrial applications
    • Act as the in-house technical expert, supporting solution development and advancing complex opportunities
    • Support the development of growth strategy by identifying investment needs, defining priorities, and building business justifications for key initiatives
    • Build technical sourcing partnerships with strategic suppliers to expand solution capabilities and address gaps in the product portfolio

    What you will bring:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred; advanced technical or business credentials are a plus
    • 15+ years of experience engineering rental systems for temporary HVAC, heating, and power applications
    • Demonstrated success working directly with end users to design temporary systems that enhance reliability, efficiency, and productivity in complex industrial applications
    • Significant experience supporting commercial teams in identifying, developing, and winning strategic opportunities for temporary solutions
    • Proven record of influencing revenue growth and portfolio performance within a large-scale rental business
    • Strong knowledge of customer requirements, operating challenges, and market dynamics across key industrial verticals such as data centers, petrochemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and utilities

    Key Skills:

    • Demonstrated ability to independently engineer temporary application solutions, including generator sizing, building load calculations, DX/AHU coil sizing, chiller and boiler sizing, duct, piping, and electrical sizing, distribution layouts, and selection of supporting accessories such as transformers, pumps, and heat exchangers
    • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders, internally and externally
    • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to create clear, audience-appropriate documentation, recommendations, and sales support materials
    • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop team members and cross-functional partners across multiple roles
    • Executive-level presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts, recommendations, and business value
    • Strong project leadership and management skills, including the ability to coordinate resources for strategic, high-value opportunities and translate business priorities into executable plans
    • Solid business and financial acumen, including an understanding of business unit P&L performance and the ability to incorporate financial considerations into technical and strategic decisions
