The Systems Management Analyst is a mid-level systems engineering role responsible for the administration and operational support of OptumServe's enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). This position emphasizes hands-on execution, reliability, and operational discipline within established technical standards and governance.

The role supports a highly available VMware/Omnissa Horizon environment across Development, Staging, Production, and Disaster Recovery and delivers a mission-critical service aligned to a 99.95% annual uptime SLA. The analyst contributes to platform stability, security, and performance while operating under defined architectural direction.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Administer and support enterprise VDI infrastructure components, including Horizon Gateways, Connection Servers, RDSH farms, and related services
  • Perform day-to-day operational management of Development, Staging, Production, and Disaster Recovery VDI environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual desktops, RDSH sessions, access, and performance
  • Monitor system health, availability, and capacity; identify risks and escalate findings as appropriate
  • Validate backup operations and support recovery readiness in accordance with documented procedures
  • Execute approved changes following established change management processes
  • Partner with monitoring, security, and operations teams to support incident response and service continuity
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures

Required Qualifications: 

  • 3 years of experience in Systems Administration & Engineering with Hands on experience administering Windows Server (2022 or newer) and Windows desktop operating systems (including Windows 11) in an enterprise setting
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platforms, including VMware / Omnissa Horizon, with hands on administration of Connection Servers, Unified Access Gateways, desktop pools, and Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) environments
  • Experience integrating and supporting VDI platforms with VMware vCenter Server and underlying virtual infrastructure
  • Experience supporting application delivery and user environment management technologies in VDI environments (e.g. FSLogix, Dynamic Environment Manager & Application delivery platforms)
  • Working experience with Active Directory and enterprise identity services, including authentication, authorization, group policy (GPOs), and multi factor authentication (MFA) integration
  • Experience using enterprise monitoring and alerting tools to support availability, performance, and incident response in production environments
  • Experience supporting security and access controls, including SSL certificate lifecycle management, endpoint protection, and policy based security tooling
  • Proven solid troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, operating system, identity, and application layers in an Enterprise production environment
  • Experience working within formal IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, including incident, change, and problem management
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision and in a Team setting as well as collaborating with Engineers across other Teams

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting cloud-hosted desktop platforms including Azure Virtual desktops or Amazon Workspaces in an Enterprise setting
  • PowerShell scripting for routine automation and reporting
  • Ability to interpret & respond to performance and utilization metrics
  • Proven working knowledge of networking fundamentals relevant to VDI environments
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms
  • Proven solid communication skills, including written communication

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
