Location: Remote (based in Israel)
Organization: Union for Reform Judaism
Schedule: Approximately 20-25 hours per week
Department: Development
Compensation: ₪105–140 per hour, commensurate with experience
The Role
The Union for Reform Judaism's (URJ) Development team seeks an Israel-based Development Coordinator to support the URJ's institutional fundraising efforts by coordinating grants from Israeli foundations, government ministries, and other institutional funders. Working closely with the Institutional Giving team, Israel leadership, Finance, Development Operations, and program staff, this role supports the full grant lifecycle for designated grants, from proposal development and submission through reporting, compliance, and stewardship.
What You Will Do
Grant Development & Management
Work with the Institutional Giving team, Israel leadership, and program staff to develop and submit grant proposals to Israeli foundations, government ministries, and institutional funders, including Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael–Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), Mosaic, the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, and other Israeli governmental and philanthropic organizations.
Coordinate the full grant lifecycle, including letters of inquiry (LOIs), proposals, grant agreements, narrative and financial reports, stewardship activities, and grant closeout.
Prepare compelling grant proposals, reports, budgets, narratives, milestones, and supporting documentation in both Hebrew and English.
Track grant timelines, reporting requirements, deliverables, and compliance to ensure submissions are completed accurately and on time.
Work with program teams to support fundraising for the URJ's Israel strategy, programs connecting Israeli and North American youth, and informal Israel education initiatives.
Grant Administration & Operations
Maintain accurate grant records, opportunity tracking, and reporting calendars in Salesforce and other organizational systems.
Work with Development Operations, Finance, Israel leadership, and program staff to develop proposals, budgets, and reports and ensure grant information and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and maintained across organizational systems.
Organize grant files, correspondence, and supporting documentation to ensure records are complete, current, and accessible.
Provide coordination and operational support for institutional giving activities, including coordinating meetings, maintaining grant documentation, organizing correspondence, reviewing acknowledgements, and supporting the overall functioning of the Institutional Giving portfolio.
Who You Are
You are an organized and detail-oriented development professional who enjoys managing multiple projects and deadlines. You have experience preparing grant proposals and reports, coordinating across teams, and keeping complex processes moving forward.
You communicate effectively in both Hebrew and English and are comfortable working with colleagues across Israel and North America. You are proactive, collaborative, and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. You are equally comfortable writing grant narratives, tracking deadlines, maintaining records, and supporting colleagues to ensure successful grant administration.
Keys to Success (the must-haves)
Organization & Project Management: You effectively manage multiple grants, competing deadlines, and reporting requirements while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Written Communication: You write clear, compelling, and accurate grant proposals, reports, and correspondence in both Hebrew and English.
Collaboration: You build productive working relationships with colleagues across Development, Finance, Israel leadership, and program teams to support successful grant submissions and stewardship.
Attention to Detail: You consistently produce high-quality work, maintain accurate grant records, and ensure proposals, reports, and supporting documentation are complete and compliant.
Initiative & Accountability: You take ownership of your work, anticipate needs, follow through on commitments, and proactively communicate progress and challenges.
Adaptability: You manage changing priorities and respond effectively to evolving funding opportunities and organizational needs.
Mission Alignment: You are motivated by the opportunity to support fundraising that advances Progressive Judaism, strengthens Israel–North America connections, and expands opportunities for Jewish learning and engagement.
REQUIREMENTS
Based in Israel and authorized to work in Israel.
Fluent in Hebrew and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
Experience preparing or managing grants from Israeli foundations, government ministries, or institutional funders.
Familiarity with Israeli institutional funders, including Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael–Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), Mosaic United, the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, and/or other governmental or philanthropic organizations.

About the Union for Reform Judaism
Serving more than 800 congregations and reaching nearly 2 million people, the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) is the engine of Reform Judaism in North America, strengthening the communities, leaders, programs, and experiences that help people find meaning, belonging, joy, justice, and purpose through Reform Jewish values and teachings.
Through congregational partnerships, 14 overnight camps, youth and teen programs, Jewish learning opportunities, Israel engagement, leadership development, work to build communities of belonging, and the justice efforts of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, we help people and communities connect to Jewish life at every stage of their journey.
We believe Jewish life is strongest when it is rooted in tradition, responsive to the world around us, connected to Israel and the Jewish people, committed to justice, and expansive enough to welcome many voices, identities, and pathways into community and belonging.
Together with our congregations, camps, leaders, and partners, the URJ is building a more connected, resilient, and joyful Reform Movement, helping shape a Jewish future grounded in peace, justice, belonging, and joy.
