Job description

Temporary Pavement Data Analyst (On-Call)

Location: Flexible / Remote Eligible (Based on Project Needs)

What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker International is seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Pavement Data Analyst (On-Call) to support pavement management and roadway asset inventory projects. In this role, you will evaluate roadway pavement conditions using high-resolution digital imagery collected by specialized pavement data collection vehicles. Your work will directly support municipal, county, and state transportation agencies by helping identify, classify, and document pavement distresses and roadway conditions.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accuracy while reviewing large volumes of visual data. Experience with GIS, transportation data, LiDAR, or asset management systems is a plus.

This is a temporary, on-call position with work assignments based on project needs and workload demands.

What You'll Do:

  • Review and analyze roadway imagery collected by pavement data collection vehicles.
  • Identify, classify, and document pavement distresses, including cracking, potholes, rutting, surface deterioration, patching, and other roadway defects.
  • Apply established pavement condition rating procedures and project-specific evaluation standards.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy while performing pavement condition assessments.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of pavement condition data.
  • Assist with manual and automated extraction of roadway assets and features from imagery and LiDAR datasets.
  • Support GIS-based data processing, mapping, spatial analysis, and data validation activities.
  • Prepare geospatial datasets and associated attribute information for client deliverables.
  • Collaborate with pavement engineering, GIS, LiDAR, and data management teams to support project objectives.
  • Meet productivity, quality, and project delivery requirements.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geography, GIS, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately review repetitive visual information for extended periods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Ability to consistently apply established standards and procedures while maintaining high-quality results.
  • Experience with GIS software, pavement management systems, imagery analysis, or LiDAR datasets is a plus.

Compensation:

The approximate compensation range for this position  per year is $18.00/hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
