Job description

The Director Development Program Managementusesextensive program management knowledge and experience in the drug development industrytoprovide operational leadership,direction,and support toassigneddevelopmentprogram(s)and/or portfolio(s).This individual is expected todrivethe cross functionaldevelopmentteam(Strategic Program Team)to developstrategic plansincluding goals, budgets, timelinesandmonitortheexecution of these plansfrom preclinical through commercialization/lifecycle management.Responsibilitiesmayalso includecoaching and mentorship of junior colleagues,managing direct reports,working withcollaborators, and contributing to departmentalinitiatives.This is aleadership role within the department and organizationthusthis individualis expected toindependentlyexecute responsibilities,interact effectively with senior leadership, andinfluencethe directionand outcomesof assignments.

***Note this role is based in office in either Tarrytown, NY / Warren, NJ / or Cambridge, MA and not eligible remote.

A typical day in this role looks like:

  • DevelopmentTeams:Partners with theGlobal Program Headtodrive strategic program teams (SPT)and sub teamsby leading key governance meetings.Usesbroad knowledgeofdrug development and project/program managementcoupled withleadership andproblem-solvingskillstoaligndevelopment teams around anintegrated project/program plans, timelines and budgets based on program vision. Ensures efficient delivery of plans.Proposes and aligns annual program goals with program strategy and Regeneron's corporate goals.Monitors progress against program goals and ensuresaccurateandtimelyreporting of program progress tomanagement.Anticipates issuesand programrisks and drivestimelydevelopment of riskmanagement plansand issue resolution.
  • Business Acumen:Utilizesknowledge of industry trendstoidentifyrisks/threats/opportunities andtranslatesthese toactionable activities for the development teams.Able toleveragepolitical savvy and awareness of team dynamics to effectivelydrivedecision makingand achieve desired outcomes.Is proficient inproject management planningsystems(MS Project, SharePoint)andtools/techniques.Understands how systems and tools canbeleveragedtomove theprogram andbusinessforward.
  • Communication:Effective and trusted communicatorthat will develop aproventrack recordacross the organization.Works effectively withdifferent stylesand adapts approaches inacross-functional matrixenvironmentto drive results.Establishes a culture which promotes and encourages open communication, transparency,accountabilityand learning from mistakes.

In order to be considered qualified, you must have a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of in-house pharmaceutical program management with knowledge of the drug development process as well as understanding of clinical trials.
