To thrive as a Remote Interior Design Procurement Specialist, you need a solid background in interior design principles, supply chain management, and vendor relations, often backed by a degree in interior design or related field. Familiarity with procurement software, project management tools, and sourcing platforms is essential for efficiently handling orders and logistics. Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills help you manage client expectations and coordinate with suppliers remotely. These skills ensure timely, cost-effective procurement and seamless project execution, which are critical to client satisfaction and business success.

Proactive communication and regular status updates help keep projects on track and minimize misunderstandings.

What is remote interior design procurement?

Remote interior design procurement is the process of sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating delivery of furniture, fixtures, and decor items for interior design projects, all managed virtually. Instead of meeting in person, designers and clients communicate online to select products and handle logistics. This approach allows clients to access design expertise and curated products from anywhere, streamlining the process with digital tools and supplier networks. It is especially useful for clients who are not local or have busy schedules, and for designers who want to broaden their reach.

Job description

We don't sell furniture, we transform spaces. RH Contract is a multi-category supplier of furnishings to luxury Hospitality, Commercial and Residential developers and their ecosystems of partners. We are an integrated team of interior designers, procurement experts, project leaders and logistics specialists working together to deliver extraordinary outcomes for our customers globally. We think differently. We work differently. We collaborate differently. We aim to be the best partners and deliver incredible time and cost value for our customers.
RH is seeking a Lead Designer II to lead medium-sized design projects or a key component of a large design project in one of our RH Contract Interior Design Studio teams. This role is the creative lead on multiple design projects - supporting our Sales Team to frame up a successful design project; working directly with customers to shape and deliver their design vision; leading the design process from discovery to final design deliverables; working independently, being part of a larger design team and sometimes leading another designer to collaborate on a particular project.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the creative lead on medium-sized design projects or a key component of a large design project - doing the design work independently or sometimes with support from others in the Studio team
  • Collaborate with our RH Contract Sales, Integrated Design, Sourcing and Operations teams to ensure that your design projects are aligned to meet both customer design project expectations and our forecasted Demand and Shipped plans
  • Lead multiple design projects within the Studio's portfolio, ranging from medium-scale to smaller design projects, and from new build to renovation/refresh projects
  • Constantly find opportunities to elevate your deliverables, processes and capabilities across the design process to support our unique, integrated design approach

OUR REQUIREMENTS
  • 6+ years of interior design experience, with 1-2 years' experience in leading medium-sized projects or key components of large projects
  • Architecture/Interior Design degree and certification
  • Strong understanding of the specific sector that your Studio operates in (Hospitality, Commercial, and/or Residential), with proven ability to effectively engage key influencers and decision-makers in that sector
  • Demonstrated sense of taste, style and alignment with the RH Design Ethos
  • Knowledge of the specific building codes, technical product requirements, brand standards, interior design submittal requirements, and systems/tools used in the sector that your Studio operates in
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining effective relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Occasionally travel domestically and internationally, meeting customers and working on design projects
